No I didn't really know that. Only been to Vegas for work a few times before, and I was oblivious to everything outside the 14+ hours a day I had to work (5+ years of work travel, and there wasn't much room for anything aside from the work). And I didn't really think much about it, just assumed it was hot all the time, but I should have remember 6th grade and that desserts aren't always hot. Now learning this about the pools, probably going to look into more of the Cali suggestions aside from just Vegas. I do want to party, but my wallet couldn't handle 6 days of it unless there was some daytime "relax by the pool and not run up a huge bar tab" downtime. Again I appreciate everyone's help on this. My friend, who's wedding I am going to, suggested Tobin James and Big Bear as being fun. But I have to look at his suggestions with a skeptical eye. Great dude, but he didn't touch his first boob and start partying until he got randomly assign a room with me and another friend in college. Let's just say we kind of turned his world upside down.
Steve, your college friend/dude and his new bride needs to book a trip to the new Temptations after it reopens next year with the 2 of you, must do a Boobs Cruise with Chinos and gang. Show the newly weds what the world is like upside down in Cancun with the best party peeps ever. T
drive west over to Pismo beach....take I-99 north and then when you get to Visalia take the Hwy(180?) west to Pismo.....you will hate Bakersfield
The weather in October should be nice. If you can stay at the DoubleTree hotel, they have a nice pool and you can take your own drinks. The coast is only a 2 hour drive. Avila Beach is fun and there is a nearby nude beach. Close to San Luis Obispo for partying and Paso Robles for wine tasting.
Just wanted to say again I appreciate everyone's advice on this thread, but it looks like it was all pointless. After looking at and discussing all these options, Elyse and I decided that whatever we did was going to feel like we were forcing a vacation to something that isn't our ideal situation. It was going to be more $ and vacation time then we would like to use just to go to a wedding. Plus it was going to be a bit much with Max missing school and babysitter(parents) services. So we pretty much decided to cut our non-existing losses with this one, and save our money and vacation time for 2017 vacations (since TTR will be reopening). I will still be attending the wedding solo, but I am just going to do a Thursday night-Sunday trip out there, and I will pretty much just be tied up with wedding responsibilities.
We live in Bakersfield! My sons friend is getting married on the 22nd, if I may ask who's wedding are you attending. We are going to TTR in Sept. Maybe we could go out for a drink while you are here. It's too bad your not here with your wife. The Paso Robles wine country is just as good if not better than Napa. And it is only an hour and a half or so drive.
Yes it looked like there was good stuff to do, but we would have had to do a 8-9 day trip to make it worth it for both of us to fly from Philly, and the sitter thing for a 5 year old was going to be rough for that long a period of time. And 8 days for us not at an all-inclusive could get extreamly expensive for a couple of party animals. The wedding is my buddy Jared's and Tarah on the 22nd at JEH ranch. Not sure how big the area is, but maybe it's the same
