This is the exact reason I waited until after I was 30 to start with tattoos... Because I know i would have gotten some car logo, or a tribal, or who knows what because it was "cool" at the time...

Luckily I waited, so I have no ragrets. ;)

I'm not one to ask that of. I have no tattoos and I never even had the slightest urge to go get one. I do see the negative judgement that people with tats (especially in highly visible places) have to deal with and that is enough to make sure I never change my thinking on that. Don't get me wrong, I'm as far from a conformist as you can get, but I follow my own beat and tattoos got to be way too trendy. Then there is the permanency issue and what happens to them when you grow old. Again, disincentive.

Not even gonna start with "ho tags/tramp stamps". Or as my bourgeois female friend calls it "A lower back tattoo"

I heard a new one over the weekend.. "Asscap" :)

Funny thing is, I am the wearer of the 'asscap' I have a lower back/tribal tattoo...definitely cliched' now, but wasn't at the time I got it done. It was the last night of our honeymoon in Maui. I wanted something to mark such an incredible time in my life. I don't regret it at all...nor any of the other 3 I have have.

Don aka..the guy with the asscap.

I don't have any either but have gone back and forth with it for years.
Ultimately, I don't have one b/c I'm chicken shit and can't pull the trigger on something that permanent!

HOWEVER, in 2011 I lost my dad to cancer. He and I had a special song - Free Bird. I remember us dancing around the living room and him showing me how to air guitar when I was about 7 or 8...Now that he is free, I thought of having

"But if I stayed here with you, girl,
Things just couldn't be the same.
'Cause I'm as free as a bird now,
And this bird you'll never change"

from the song penned on my rib in his handwriting (taken from love notes to my mom)...THAT I could not see myself regretting...

Hubby and my mom say don't do it. I'm still on the fence.

Still trying to figure out which tribe all these folks with tribal tattoos are from?

The mean streets of some McMansion suburbia utopia we assume.

If you decide to do it, I think that would be an awesome tribute and something to remember him by. My most recent one, the only picture I have in our albums so far, was for my best friend of 36 years who passed away quite unexpectedly last year. We both collected things with skulls on them and spent countless hours paddling canoes and kayaks together. :)
