Are you guys aware of this new invention called the ATM aka Automatic Teller Machine? You can just put a card in and it'll take money directly out of your bank account as needed. You no longer need to carry traveler's check or hide large sum of cash under the mattress. Don't be afraid of new technology. Embrace it.
most banks here charge 2.75 percent of every withdrawal in foreign countries pal, can work out expensive!!!
which is exactly why i take cash, also you loose your card etc your buggered because you wont be able to get anything out. If i have cash i lock it in my safe and take some out acordingly.
I do the same, although i also bring my bank card down as a back up. But it never leaves my safe unless I need it! Always take out what Cash i need as we go along.

yes... I'm quite baffled by this tendency to bring huge sums of cash and hide them in the room as opposed to carrying your card and making a few withdrawals during the week. that way you can't be robbed of your entire savings, and wont' be carrying ridiculous amounts of money around Cancun and in the clubs. Don't carry your card on you, just take it to the ATM, make a withdrawal, and put it back into your room with your passport and such.
well if you use your roomsafe thats about the same thing! I like having ALL my cash with me, rather than using my ATM. Take out what I need on a daily basis, keep the rest and documents in the safe so no one can get to it!
Just do what ever you feel is best, i like all cash others like card. no big deal really is it just make sure you have a good time.
