We want to go to Chichen Itza but we do not want to take a "tour". We want to be able to stop when we want to stop and we hate waiting. Has anyone rented a vehicle and drove to Chichen Itza? Would you recommend it? Any advice?

What are your travel dates? We also would like to go there, but don't want the "12 hour tour" !! We could hook up and share a car!

One other thing to keep in mind is renting a van and driver for around $250 for the day and geting a small group together to cover the cost.

We are going to be in Cancun from 10/25 to 11/1. We are willing to go any day but that Monday and Tuesday.
