Tori that dinner sounds delicious!!!! I'm glad someone had a fantastic one! I had a lovely dinner on the 25th, which made up for it - we even had Christmas crackers! (not a custom is the USA right?) CancunFun - I don't remember getting an invite to Thanksgiving!! I saw the photos and it looked like a lovely meal and a fun day. - nothing to do with that Jim, I'm talking basic cooking principles here.
Philly was always the same as most traditional Christmas Meals. But celebrating here with all Mexicans has opened up some yummy meals...with the traditional Turkey and Ham. I am obsessed with the Apple Salad they have. There were three different kinds...and I tried them all a few times. I made Chocolate Chip and Christmas Sugar Cookies. That was my American contribution.
Wow...you are all lucky to get a bit of taste of home! I have never even SEEN a turkey or piggie cooked in the traditional American form in Mexico...the only way I've seen those animals in Mexico has been either in live animal form or in a caldo! Or in relleno, carnitas, or chicharron. My inlaws (in both Cancun and the village) don't even have a functioning oven...closest they get to that is the pib.
One doesn't need an oven anymore. One the 23rd, Chedraui at Las Americas was setting up Precooked Turkey's..stuffed and all for pick-up.
