We usually leave the resort for a Walmart trip or other shopping venture. Sometimes we have walked sometimes taken the bus and never really felt like we were in danger at any time.
Every trip we make a few exits just to change the scenery. Here is what we have done: - Day/overnight trip to Isla Mujeres, you rent a golf cart and tour the island all day hitting the bars and restos and a cheap hotel! GREAT TIME! - Day/overnight trip to Playa del Carmen. They have an awesome pedestrian street with many great bars and restos! GREAT TIME! - Closer to the hotel we have been to the club area where Coco Bongo is and there are a few tiny bars/restos and also on the lagoon side there are some nice upscale restos that let you come in with your shorts and tank top! GREAT TIME! - Cozumel, meh, we did not like Cozumel. NOT GREAT TIME!
