More thoughts on this: beverages included on s ship are milk juice, water coffee and tea. The package includes soda, specialty coffees, mimosas at breakfast etc.
IIRC on the carnival Cruise we took a few years ago tea was only available during certain lunch and dinner hours. Fruit juice (Orange juice, apple juice) were only available during breakfast. I could be wrong about the details here, but I know there were limitations on drinks other than water. We paid by the drink, which turned out to be good. I caught mono a few weeks before the cruise and was sleeping most of the day. Had that not happened probably would've been cheaper to get the drink package.
We are also on the cruise for the first time.....we are opting to buy the drink package.......if we drink a lot one or a little we won't be surprised by a large bill at the end of the cruise.........we know the price up front........
Look forward to hearing all about the cruise..... certainly different to those we've experienced... apart from the Boobs Cruise !!
I recommend that you have a conversation with @pvtnurse4u. She went on a Bliss Cruise a year or so ago.
A grand sounds like a lot, but probably a good buy on a cruise. Not having to worry about what you are spending would be worth it.
I hope to get confirmation shortly if I'm going on the Bliss cruise. $69 is higher than the ships usually charge per day, it's usually $45-$55 but then they add an automatic 15 to 18% above that. Perhaps the Bliss organizers are taking a cut of it (makes sense why the price would be $69 tee hee) or hopefully they're already calculating the gratuity in the price... The cruise lines also used to throw in a fairly cool bottle to keep but some are now eliminating that. Good news is that they should only charge for 6 days since bars aren't open on debarkation day. I used to sneak in alcohol, attend all the champagne art auctions, and be sure to get a couple cocktails at the party for repeat cruisers. Now I say fuck it and do the drink package. Hope this helps and hope to meet you on the ship!
Been on a Royal cruise 2 years ago. I purchased 1 full driñk package and 1 pop and water package for the wife who does not drink as much. Drink packages are worth it if you drink alot as the drinks are $11+ a drink. With Royal you need to look for the occasional specials they offer leading up to your cruise date. Sometimes you can save hundreds of dollars. Also check out the cruise critic website. It's like the Cancuncare but for cruisers. Cruise Reviews, Cruise Deals and Cruises - Cruise Critic
