I ate at "La Parilla" in downtown. I really liked it. a bit expensive for being Mexico, but it was good. Great parilladas.
I hear alot about "La Habichuela". I might try it on my trip in August

Rio's my #2... I just get there more often because it's convenient...

    Cambalache is my first choice.

    HOTEL ZONE

Puerto Madero - Simply the best; bring money.
Ilaliani's - As Bundy would say, "The same as in the U.S., only different."
FA Grand Coral Beach-Breakfast Buffet - over $25 US per person after the tip but a bargain for what you get. Nothing else compares.
Mikado - At the JW Marriott - Japanese & Thai. Hibachi tables and sushi. Feel like Japanese fine dining? This is for you.
Philadelphia Cheese Steak - The only bargain place I have listed. Sandwich, fries, beer or soda & tee shirt for $10 U.S. Home of the $1 beer. Family owned and operated.

    CENTRO

Super Carne - The Arrachera Platter is more than you can eat and includes a soda or an agua, and under $8 U.S. The hottest roasted peppers known to man. I think I will go tonight.
Pozoleria Castillo - There is nothing like a huge bowl of steaming Pozole for about $5 U.S.
100% Natural - The downtown location with open air and covered seating, great smoothies. Fresh & healthy food.
La Placita - Where you rarely see a tourist & it's on busy Yaxchilan. Great food & service at affordable prices.
La Habichuela - How could anyone not have this on their list?

Check out peopleschoiceguide.com info on their book for reviews, ratings and locations of Cancun restaurants.

    Speaking of "stickies", TJ
(subject carried over from a different thread)
this thread (or one like it) might also be a (very) good candidate.
    Your thoughts?

Hey Naoautorizada - Could be very helpful as well. Years ago I used to have a T.J.'s Favorite Cancun Restaurants thing on another board, which I would update after each trip I made here. Restaurants went on and off the list as needed in my opinion. It was pretty popular but when I started eating at joints downtown and much less in the Zone, I just quit the updates.

Plus I knew this great book was in the works, the People's Choice Guide, which I keep handy myself.
