Yes, tip what you feel is comfortable for you. I used to exchange money but now I just take a bunch of $5 bills and some $1s (U.S.) I think they like the U.S. as I think they get a better exchange than we do. But they are ALWAYS appreciative of tips. Our package is usually all inclusive which is supposed to include tips but we tip anyway!
The tipping worked well with 20s and 50s. I tipped in total about 3000 pesos and in return got ten times it's worth back. On the last day I gave 200 to each of the staff that took care of us - we plan on going back and hope to see the same wonderful people that spoiled us this time.
We tip $1 for drinks, $3 at breakfast or lunch, $5 at dinner. It makes a difference in their service, and we like to do this.
