We have gone to coco bongo with the resort and just on our own and it's a way better experience to go with the resort. We plan on going one night during the same week you both are there. You guys should for sure come too!
Absolutely..if you do it up right. The club doesn't open until 11 or so and stays open until early am (5am?) Always a good idea to pre-game at your hotel beforehand
I like the idea of Coco Bongo, but it seems like a lot of money. I don't like being overcrowded either. I'm ok if I have my own space, and can see, but I get the impression that if you're short you have to get on the bar to see and have space. Don't think I'd be comfortable with that.
We have been to Riviera Maya 9 times, but we have never been to Coco Bongo. We must try it this time.
The price is in line with the outings for any of the clubs that the resort goes to. I agree that it is sometimes hard to pay an additional $80-$100 US per couple when you can drink for the price you already paid at the resort but it can be fun to see what else Cancun offers. This is a bit different than a normal night at a club though because every 15 or so minutes they put on a bit of a show like dancers, media effects, aerialists, costumes, etc. If you don't like being overcrowded you will not like Coco Bongo. The last time we went they had us all line up shoulder to shoulder so that everyone could be situated but there was not really any ability to walk around other than to go to the restrooms until more people left later in the evening. They do not really let you get your own drinks from the bar but have waiters bring them to you at all times so you do not have to worry about walking around too much. Tip: The girls offering shots are not part of the all inclusive fee and will expect payment if you take a shot. The all inclusive fee covers bottled water and mixed drinks/beer etc. As far as seeing the show though you can actually see it no matter how tall/short you are. Most of it occurs high up on stage so that you do not have to worry about people blocking your view. If you really do not like where you are for whatever reason, I have seen that a tip to a waiter gets you escorted to a different spot. We have been on all different levels and spots and always been able to see. You are standing most of the time so I recommend shoes you are comfortable wearing (some girls love the heels all night but I can only wear them for a few hours before I need to change).
We didn't go last year so we want to try it one night this December. Sounds like a lot of fun. It would be nice to get a good group to go.
TTR goes to a different club each night. Its $40 or $50 pp. Coco Bongo is not just a club, its a show in itself. Impersonators, like Gun and Roses, Michael Jackson, Madonna, and its non stop. And did I see fire trap? I locate the nearest exit each time I go. Just in case. But its well worth it to see it once.
