Anybody who cant find anything good to eat at TTR needs to go book at a different resort.... most of the Resorts are getting there food from the same vendor anyways... TTR to us is about the people...thats why we love it!!
I really don't get what problems people have with the quality of the food. Even the buffet is way better than what you'd expect from an all inclusive in the UK. There's a buffet restaurant in my hometown that serves a very similar menu to that of the Temptation buffet, and they charge around £15 ($22) per head! About the only thing I could mention would be the lack of variety, but I think that was more from spending 2 weeks there and missing home-cooked British food, rather than the lack of choice.
Buffet has 2 sides to it, you can: 1) Eat the same food daily and enjoy the odd mix up of things 2) Eat the same food they supply daily, but make your own dishes. We made Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Bacon & Tomato in it for example, the girl who is at the grill had never scene it before, btw, it was a triple decker and anyome who asked where I got it from, I simply told them it was the last one.
I thought the food was far better in Cabo personally but food is what I do so I tend to be pickier than most. I also don't eat wheat so that limits me a lot more than others. The a la cart restaurants were far better, it is just unfortunate you have to make a res at the two best restaurants. In Cabo you didn't have to and could go as often as you wanted, I missed that. But as Chris and April mentioned TTR Cancun is more about the people and the party than fine dining. As long as you go into it with that expectation you should have fun
I have found that salt and pepper become my friends at the buffet and trying to come up with your own concoctions is good too! I really like to have lunch in the Mexican place that is open (can't think of the name) but it's right outside the sports pool. We always find that sitting in the same area in the buffet will bring great service because we always tip our server and we always try to sit in the same area. They get to know us after a few days and what we like to drink :huepfen013: The bottom line is, we go for the fun and friends, not the food....but did notice an improvement in 2011 compared to previous trips. ~Jill~
They also will make you a fabulous cheeseburger at the evening meal if you ask....It would be hard to find a better one anywhere....yum....
We didn't like the lunch/dinner buffet at TTR until we went on the Chichen Itza bus tour - now THAT lunch buffet was truly horrible, utterly inedible! It is all about perspective I like their made to order breakfast just fine (but the liquid sour cream is weird - love the chopped hot peppers by the soup!). They also make a decent cheeseburger in the middle of the night!
Just got back last night. Enterainment staff was great, maybe a haft tic from when chinos was running the show but still very good. Food was fine in all resturants with cudos to the Asian and Italian restruants. Better than the last 2 previous visits.
