I have finally booked my trip.... not back-to-school time, I am afraid :(

The prices become abusive and the service around the floor. I have booked 1 bag each way, the service appears on their page but not in the confirmation email. I have been debited from my bank account for it (in 2 different purchases), and I just received an email asking me to book my bags before the 26, the price AGAIN increases

I tried to call them several times, I just spent 35 minutes waiting, nobody answers. And they don't reply to the emails, of course!

My Free Spirit number is not recognized either  . The same... impossible to reach them on the phone nor by email. Do you know what is going on with them?

Do you have a suggestion? It would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I travel with them to Ft. Lauderdal with my kids and friends, I purchase 11 round trip tickets and pre pay for 2 bags for each adult.

Never got a confirmation on the bags, only the charge on my AMEX. At the aiport they did not have any record of the pre-booked bags and make me pay the aiport rate.

Once back I fax them the AMEX statement and the voucher from the aiport and 2 months later they credit my card.

    Jen,

Here is what I suggest. Go to www.spiritair.com Have your confirmation number handy.

Go to My Reservations in the top left area. Enter your Last Name and Record Locator (confirmation) Number and this should give you your Reservation Summary.

Scroll down and the number of bags you have paid for should be shown in the far right column. If you paid for them, they should be there. I know what you mean about the two transactions. I have no idea why they do it this way.

I am assuming that you did not print the reservation number at the end of the reservation process. But if you did, they will honor that at the airport and make sure your return flight shows the bag paid.

If for any reason the bags are not shown on the Summary, then take evidence that you paid it, like a printout of your credit card transctions for the day you booked the flight and paid for the baggage. The Spirit folks are all great here in Cancun. Show them your "evidence" and you should be good to go. Do not bother with the toll free number as you have learned.

If you see a really tiny girl behind the counter when you leave, let people pass you to get to her. She is wonderful and a good friend and neighbor as well. She will take care of you. She is the definition of customer service. (Yardena is her name.)

Good luck. Call me if you still are having trouble.

Oh, GREAT!!!! That's where you see expert travellers!

My bags are there. but is it not funny that I received another email, the first one didn't have the record locator, so they sent another one, but without the bags either

I had printed the summary from the site just following the resevation AND my bank statement. I was more concerned about problems at the airport, mainly in FLL where it is always a big mess.

I know some people at the airport in Cancun, yes, they are great, especially last year when I arrived one day too early  . But I had some apointments there, so I couldn't come back the next day.

Thank you so much, but what Ana says doesn't really give a good opinion of what they are becoming. Too much money (ours!) spent on publicity and none in customer service. I will go with Yardena or at least say Hello for you.

I agree, Gonzo! And now, surprise!!! you have to pay to get a seat assigned. Crazy.

I have been trying to get a refund of the tourist tax since I got my FM3 in 10/06. Finally, a local Spirit employee figured it out and handed me a note with the credit info that actually showed up on my credit card. This was handed to me at the airport as I was leaving town a couple of weeks ago.

But then, Spirit overhauled their computer and reservation system and the old way of refunding the tax did not work.

I used some trickery to find the direct number of the head of the Spirit tax dept and he was very helpful. As of today they had all of my record locator numbers for a bunch of trips in and out of Cancun.

We will see how this sorts out. My refund on the one was $22.50 US. More than a years worth of monthly flights will be good for the cost of a ticket. Life could be good shortly.

a trick i used very effectively when Directv Mexico attempted to abuse me was to fax my problem, evidence and proposed solution to every single board member with attention to better business bureau etc. A little over the top but, it worked!
