It truly depends on the situation. I'm Canadian but I do have a US bank account. There has been money in there for 20 years. Am I paying an exchange rate for someone to pay an exchange rate? Probably but likely I paid it in 2004 or something lol.

Honestly, I think Canadians do it for simple math. One US dollar is equivalent to one Canadian dollar, frig I wish!! Well, about 78 cents to the dollar now! It's easier then doing drunken math to remember that 20 pesos is $1.36 Canadian or 50 pesos are $3.40.

I always tip at the beginning of the day at the pool and at the end instead of lots of little ones in between and if you tell them that upfront they DO remember you and give that little extra bit of attention.

Also don't forget to tip if ordering a huge stack of shots.

I think that I have had about enough using pesos, and really it is my own stupid fault. I like using the pesos, mostly because they are waterproof, so each trip I convert about half of my spending money to pesos. I try to do the conversion in my head right in the beginning and set up some rules "this....equals this in USD" in my head. This way once I am pretty toasted I can try to go back to that sober memory and recall it. Now with 4 trips under my belt now in a relatively short amount of time, I think I am getting worse at it instead of better.

I would like to blame it on the fact then when we started I believe it was easy cause it was 1:10. So just remove the zero from the peso, and that is what you have in the USD. But as conversion rates fluctuate, I get mixed up between the old rules in my head and the new rules I setup for the current trip. This trip I was the worst, maybe I drank more then normal (which i think I did for like 3 of the days...damn booze cruise and b-day back to back), but I wasn't good with the conversion at all with the 1:14. Seems so simple now, but when I am operating on 7 brain cells it didn't go so well. I found myself walking away at times being like "I may have just tipped the bartenders $30". But it also just might have been my subconscious over-tipping everyone all week cause I knew that sadly I won't be back until after the reno, and I did bring extra money cause I wanted to hook lots of people up.

Whatever the reason may be for my personal issues, next trip I am just going to keep everything in USD so I don't have to worry about any math. Oh and that reminds me of another thing, Elyse is literally no help at all. She doesn't bring any money, carry any money, and seems to have zero Desire to even operate it if she had to. She's like: I'm on vacation, Steve you just handle all that stuff I don't want to think about it at all, haha.

It really depends on your budget and how you personally tip. I would suggest taking you tipping budget (separate from shopping/excursions) and just doing some simple math. It depends on how long your trip is too. Right now 100 CAD is about 1300 MXN.

Wow, I love our exchange rate here :) 100USD is 1890 MXN woohoo.

For a week I was figuring on bringing 4000 for tips. Housekeeping, bars, waitstaff :)

Not to get off topic, but I love the Charmin comment!!! Can't tell you how many times they ran out of toilet paper in the ladies room at the sexy pool!! I may just have to shove a roll in my beach bag just in case!! lol
