I always leave a tip with a thank you note to the maids, and have come to know the bartender staff, and tip them all equally.. It just seems to be the right thing to do because they work their asses off! They remember me because I always say " stick that in your pocket" if they go to put it in the tip jar, I also make sure to put a 20 in Chinos cause for cancer. Treat people good and they will treat you good! I love TTR, and even though I walk with a Cain , everyone treats me normal... That makes me feel great! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Do you tip in U.S. Dollars versus Peso? We've traveled to Mexico several times, but first time here and I was always told to to tip in peso's so they don't have to exchange. They get more money when tipping in pesos.
We typically budget $50 a day for tipping since everyone bust their asses off and almost always with a huge smile and a friendly word or 10+ (everyone has a bad once in a while). Normally we tip in USD but this trip we are doing Pesos. We also do a combination of tipping up front at the bar then every couple of rounds and per drink for chair service.
US Dollars vs. Pesos for tips I keep seeing notes in threads about converting $ to pesos for tips. I am against this for several basic reasons. 1) You will likely not get the best conversion rate, effectively reducing the value of your tips to the help 2) Who do you think is best at converting US dollars at best rate, a tourist that comes to Mexico several times a year at most or a hotel worker that gets US tips all the time and lives in an resort town. 3) He is going to be visiting the bank or local black market currency converter anyway with his other US tips 3) Ok yes, And also I am lazy, its a vacation right?
The O/P has the exact plan that we use for tipping at TTR. We do the $10 at the front end of the day for our deck server, typically Emmy, and at the end of the day when we're buzzzzzzzing we might hit him with another bill. Works for us.
We tip the server at the pool in the morning when we get there. I try to avoid carrying money during the day at the pool as I ten to loose more of it than I spend.
Me & (Craig G) usually bring $200 worth of $1.00 & $100 worth of $5.00 for a 7 day trip. Always give it out b4 we leave. We never bring tip $$$$$$ back home. Hey Ajay if we are drinking and you loose your tip $$$$$, Baby G got you!!!!!!
