    Here's what we did...

    USA Transfer.. $5
    Bellhop.. $5
    Drinks $1 a round. If I got a shot tower (6-20 shots), i'd tip $3 or so..
Maid. $2 a day.. A little more on the last day since there was so much glass & glitter to clean up lol.
    Breakfast.. $2
    Lunch.. $3-$5
Dinner.. $5 at buffet, $10 at seafood/tex mex, and $20-$30 at asian or italian.

That's about the most of it..

Basically thats what we do, except if we know we are going to stay at the pool all day...we usually give our wait person $20 bucks up front. Also we add a few small tips here and there for the people who NEVER get/expect tips. Like the older women who was sweeping the floor in the Tex Mex restaurant; the girls that fold towels in the ladies room - just some of the "other" people.

I usually tip at each bar up front ($10-20) and always get great service. After that, I give smaller tips as needed.
First morning I leave $10 for the maid and a note asking for extra water and diet coke then I leave $2 a day. I come back to a extra drinks as I buy a bottle of Captain at the airport to have drinks in my room.

All others I tip accordingly based on service.

I bring USD. I've done pesos, but USD seems to be well received.
$5 a day for the maid
$5-$10 for transfer people depending on how they handled everything
$1-$3 for breakfast and lunch at buffet (single guy...again depending on service)
$3 at a la carte lunch
$5-$20 for dinners depending on which place I'm eating and service received
Drinks...day and night I typically give $10 or $20 up front depending on how much I plan on drinking. And if I "exceed" my expectations or am doing a lot of rounds, then I'll tip as needed. I almost never have to ask for a drink when there even in a crowd.

I have heard that good things like great rooms can sometimes free up for those that hand the front desk people like a $20 when you are checking in. Is that true?

I am sure there are cameras there, and I am not sure if that is a good idea. Someone else probably has a more informed opinion.

Agree, sounds like the fine line when a "tip" becomes a "bribe".

Yeah, I was not sure if that sounded like a good idea, bad idea or just a quick way to thin out that heavy travel wallet.

Trust me, the folks working there will get the tip money before I head home, maybe they just get a few more bucks that last day we are there.

Oh have to make sure I have enough for the return USA transport driver too.
