this is our tip schedule front desk at check in 20.00 us maid 5.00 a day us breakfast 2.00 drinks 1.00 each Lunch 5.00 dinner 5.00 night bartender 10.00 entertainment staff 10.00 each driver 5.00 hope this helps answer the Question Remember this is our 13th trip so we know everyone of the staff Randy
Wow...by my calculations that's over $300 on a 7 night stay...before drinks! I plan to be generous, but I'm not sure I could justify that much!
We are about the same except for the front desk, entertainment staff (never thought about it to be honest...ooops, our bad) and dinner. Dinner, depending where we eat can be upto $20.00 (the specialty restaurants) and about $10.00 at the buffet if the service is very good (and it usually is). In a nut shell, we tip about $500 for a 10 day stay. Some may say that is a lot but all the staff goes way over any expectations we may have so we are good with it...and have to budget for it in our vacation plans. Scott
Hey Brewster... we don't tip as much as rrrandy.. but this is our usual amounts- BTW We tip in american and save up $1 and $5 dollar bills from trip to trip... Maid- $2.00/day Breakfast and lunch $2.00/day and if we have had the same server most of the time $5.00 the last day Dinner- at buffet $2.00 and at speciality restuarants- $10.00 Bartenders- $5.00/day directly to the one we know at the sexy pool, quiet pool (we normally get a jacuzzi room so we always have a late afternoon drink or 2), paty o's and sports bar. Will give $10 our last day there to each of our favorite bartenders. Luggage person- $3.00 upon check-in and while leaving. Tips go a long way into making your time at TTR alot more pleasant!
Thanks everyone! I think it's helpful to get a feel for what others are doing. Obviously, some people are able to afford more than others. And there are people that believe an "All Inclusive" should not require tipping at all. My intent was not to make anyone feel bad for tipping less or make others feel stupid for tipping more for that matter...lol. I think we all know that the staff is paid minimally and they count on the tips they receive to make a decent living and provide for their families. "TIPS" is an acromyn... "To Insure Prompt Service". Tip what you can afford, when you can. Especially to those that go "above and beyond".
Wow, I haven't done the math but if these tipping amounts are typical year round, these barmen dudes are earning more than me, and I own two companies.
Im sure some of them do make a rather good salary, though I believe unless you hand it to them outside of the bar or restaurant it all goes into a till and split among the bartenders etc.... As far as me tipping, I dont really have a schedule or set amount, Im always a firm believer that Tips are earned and not required, (though I always tip something) but I believe if someone delivers exceptional service or has and exceptional personality and that impacts my vacation for the better, then I will be sure to take of that person.
I think it's worth keeping in mind that those that tip well are more likely to answer this question. And I think maybe you should raise your prices....lol.
