do you HAVE to tip bartenders? i'd never done this before coming to america when I was told in miami that i'd better tip them. like, what happens if you don't? i don't mind waiting an extra 5 minutes to get my next drink. i've just been brought up to tip in restaurants and to hotel porters, not to get a drink. what happens if you don't tip? is it just a bit rude? if I'm paying $60 cover I probably won't even drink enough to make that up if I've been drinking all day + having tp tip at every drink... makes it massively expensive.

You can either pay 1/2 the open bar cover and pay a ridiculous price at the bar for your drinks.

I just pay the full open bar and i then tip nicely at the start and expect good service all night. I tip ensures you not waiting 20 minutes for a drink.

Most clubs during spring break down there actually require a tip per drink received i saw many times bartenders now giving out drinks and pouring the beer on the floor because the person didn't tip them i believe this was at the city.

well if you go up to the bar and order a drink, they will most likely make it for you.. but if your getting table service, i'd def. tip them!

after all it seems that it won't be necessary to tip at the front desk. Today I stopped by the Travel Agency for the tickets and found that the owner was my patient (and her daughter too) so she told me that she was gonig to talk to the operator for a free room upgrade, hope it works!

trust me...you must tip. With some places I've seen, they will serve you the first drink, check if youve tipped them and then serve you again, if you DONT...chances are they wont look your way again, the bars get somewhat crowded depending on the night and the spot that they have way too many others to serve that will treat them well. Tip big early, you'll be set for the night

When you say "tip big early", roughly how much would that be?

    5-10 is good

some people do 20 but thats excessive because there is like 3-4 bartenders per bar and sometimes one guy is flooded and the rest of the crew doesn't know of your generosity
