We like the empty beds.... Not always into the party scene... We'll see...first time back as Premier members. Simply excited to vacation with my husband and no kids!
OK here is my 2cents for what it's worth - We have been Premier members since our first trip in 2004. Bought a small package, then upgraded the following year. We were very happy & saved money along with some perks. Then the RCI scandal broke & thru a monkey wrench into everything. :banghead: At this time everyone was up in arms about being screwed by RCI & Premier & vowed not to give them another dime. Well....we took the chance & upgraded again & am I glad we did! I am not going to go into specifics because as it has been said before - every contract is different. In my opinion Premier took a bad sitiuation & made it better for us. Prices were pretty friendly for a couple of years but I see now many are paying $2000-$3000 for 7 days with various travel companies. Our trip in Oct cost me $49 & my wife $49. Yes.. $98 total for 7 days. That was airfare, hotel & AI fees. Since our last upgrade, we have already saved that money that it cost us to upgrade & still have 6 more free trips. Again I do not want to compare my contract to yours because everyone has a different one sold at different times by different management. If I had to do it over again I probably wouldn't have joined as a member as I have spent a lot of time making it work. But because of that mine does work. My advise would be to do as gowick did, don't buy the first time. Sit thru a couple of presentations (you usually get some kind of gift or money) & ask members what they think of their memberships. It isn't for everyone but if you are interested, do your homework so you can make a decision based on facts from members not just promises from the timeshare people. More than 2 cents worth but I hope this has helped some understand a complex issue.
Might be time for us to do some homework. Won't say we got a bad deal even thoguh the whole RCI fiasco did take a lot out of what we bought. I find that Premier always tries to gouge late in the year for the following year then miraculously price drop...guess it is a game they play and hope to capitolize on. I just think they should simply offer member a very competative rate whitout the whole dance thing. I am very happy for those who got a package that works for them Scott
FYI here is what we are paying in Febuary just a little info this is flying out St Louis MIssouri through FunJet We went last year at the end of June through the 4th July and paid a little less than $1,900.00 for 7 weeks so it is more this time but differant time of year Pricing includes roundtrip air (non-stop), transfers, all-inclusive resort, and taxes. Pricing is per person. Temptation Resort: Feb 23rd, 3 nights $884.42 Feb 26th, 4 nights $1004.42 Feb 25th, 5 nights $1114.42 Feb 23rd, 7 nights $1244.42
Scott unfortunately thats not the vacation ownership world. all of them play on the dreams of unlimited vacation as one person told me however, smart buyers need the bad buyers to help finance new properties. i think that ntbabys point applies...some people have good deals, some have bad. some think they have bad deals that arent bad, some think they have good deals that stink.. i know a few members who have deals that put mine to shame....(like ntbaby) i know others who got screwed royally... i just hope i have a deal that works for me, and that i can sort of advise anyone else who is looking.
Best advice I can give you is DO THE MATH. Make sure you add a few bucks a night on the AI fee as the prices usually increase. Not every year but it does go up over time. If your not saving at least $200 to $300+ on each trip I really don't see a reason to part with your hard earned cash. P.S.: Remember is a negotiation so if you don't want to pay a maintenance fee then tell them that.
i just looked at the 23rd for 7 nights.. booking alone you can pay $365 air $783 room $ 35 transfer 1183
Don't sign anything. They give you things that they know you will never use to make it sound good. Like 4 weeks a year for 25 years. Then they say you can sell weeks you don't use to freinds. Good luck, I can't even give them away. I regret it and should have just did the pay as you go because I have 4 weeks going to waste this year as I could only use two.
I bought my timeshare for literally $1 on ebay. I am very happy with that. I don't intend on trading it for any where else. Shop around, you can also rent weeks. I love this place, so we are very happy.
I have been twice before, and nobody even tried to approach us. I was thinking that maybe they might not target Canadians since we have charter vacations that are always so cheap. I just booked 7 days in January, and all inclusive price, air, hotel, tax, and transfers was around $1000. I was bummed because we hummed and hawed over the days and the price went up by the time we booked. I easily see the price $600 plus tax for 7 days (including air and transfers).
