If you have 4-6 hours to spare and enjoy high pressure sales, feel free to take advantage of the "free" 1 hr couples massage. Otherwise, NO is a good option too.
Another of their sneaky little tricks is to tempt you with " premium " booze.... I know several people who bit on that one and got to feeling to good at the presentation and bought after they swore they never would.........they will try anything even trying to make you feel sorry for them. Saying things like " this is how I make my living...... it looks like I'm not doing my job if you won't even go to the free breakfast.......etc. etc. etc.......
Nice! I used to do a similar thing with double-glazing phone calls here in the uk. I'd ask how they cope with Grade 1 listed buildings. Usually, the phone would go down at the other end at this point.
at the airport they try to trick into thinking their with your travel group. do not talk to any one after you clear customs go directly outside and look for your shuttle, they usually hold up a plaque. avoiding eye contact helps
They got us in June at check in, we fell for the "its a tour of the resort" us as newbies thought GREAT....then found out was the time share peeps! BUT....we beleive it was worth it, had no intentions on getting a time share, and we just walked away after the hour talk, BUT we wallked away with a free bottle of booze, AND $100 gift card to use ANYWHERE on the resort...just book it for first thing in the morning if you see my point, then you dont miss any sun time!
When we went in 2007, we politely ignored the whole thing. When they insisted on booking an appointment ("My manager requires me to do that") I simply said, "Feel free to put me on the appointment list. I will not come to the appointment." and then when they started in with the phone calls and notes under the door, I just ignored it. The capper was when I was at the sexy pool and the rep walked by and stopped me and said "I missed you at your appointment" - I looked at her and said "I was being truthful when I said I wouldn't come. I just lived up to my promise." She got the hint and that was that.
I have never been to temptations but have had this issue on other trips, although it doesn't always work, I usually use the bankruptcy line as well. I tell them I booked the trip with my last credit card, going to use it until it runs out and then file when I get home, so if the time share fits on whats left of the card we can talk......so how much are these things so I know what to say is left on the card???? I only do this for amusement, because if they persist I stay in character and give them a daily update of whats left on the card!
When you check in - tell the "greeter" you are tired and want to go straight to bed. Give the bellman 50-100 pesos first and he will get you to your room without a hassle. If they try to call you in the room take the phone off of the hook - realistically you aren't going to use the room phone anyway. They will forget about you and that's the end of that.
