As usual, I both agree and disagree with my online buddy Donald.... A question though, D... can you tell me precisely where your info came from in the food chain of folks working at Original Resorts staff? We've got a line via Stacia into the upper management in the Premier room (because Stacia's hot, it has nothing at all to do with me) and we heard much akin to Steve's Rooms and Pricing Thoughts thread from that line, i.e. the fancy-schmancy rooms are going obe Exxxpensive, but the typical run of rooms at the bottom of the quality chain will be in the 10-20% increase range over the right now pricing. And remember, that right now pricing is about 100% higher already than it was just 3 ,4 years back. On being done and ready..... shoot, I don't think there is any way they will be able to be done faster than the original thought of 10 months I heard. In fact, I'd be surprised to fin out that they were open for business in less than a year. I bet Donald's estimate is closer to accurate than not, though I'm sure Diego will be lighting people on fire to turn his property back into a money stream rather than a money pit. And, we're pleased witht he upgrade. For Stacia, it's the thought that all the tired rooms will be benefiting from facial rejuvenation -- for me, we get a place to ahng out and party when it's raining! I can NOT express how much that makes my heart warm. And... you said stripper poles in one of the club areas! Nice...
So I'm not a Wall Street big wig...just a Midwest farmer. For what it's worth my opinion on this whole upgrade thing is that while it sucks for almost everyone on this forum while the remodel takes place, it is necessary. As far as the prices go, which seems to be a major concern, economically there's no way prices won't increase. How much is anyone's guess, but as in any business it's about making it work over the long term. Big shots at TTR obviously want to recruit new customers, but maintaining its current customer base is also a major key to success so jacking up prices wouldn't be a smart business plan and they know that. From the video I say it looked like an increase in the number of rooms which should help with revenue, providing they can keep relatively full...and that obviously means doing what they can to keep its current customers. most people on here would more than likely keep returning even though TTR obviously isn't up to date or the nicest resort in cancun, but once it's done I'm sure we will all return and enjoy it even more than we already do!
Btw if somebody that knows somebody sees this...I think TTR could use a couple real hot tubs...or at least one giant one...maybe w some neon lighting that changes color...maybe a dance platform w a pole in the center...possibly open all night...just sayin I think it would be popular. Lol
we talked with quite a few premiere members this week, and some are excited about the changes but bummed about the closure. A few are really upset that they felt lied to when they signed up about the closure, cost of living rate increases. We love the place, but if it's not the same or if the rates are crazy compared to comparable resorts, we'll go to plan B. Out of the 6 resorts we've stayed at in Quintana Roo, TTR has by far the worst beach, and I don't know how in the world they're going to overcome that issue to jack rates through the roof. I mean, it's Cancun!
my biggest wish list is hvac that won't make you sick! Even with spraying disinfectant in the vents I've got bronchitis for the second straight trip. I do think their idea is a sexy vibe but not "over the top" as it is now. As the owner they have a right to do that, but before the big changes were announced last week, I commented to my wife while in the sexy pool that the owner has a perfect concept for the location and condition of the resort. As I recall, they are keeping the quiet pool, right? That has got to be the least utilized (other than the cigar bar, head scratcher) thing at the place. Perfect for a more upscale cliental however.....hhhhmmmm..:icon_eek:
remember Temptations is owned by original resorts. they also own Desire and Pearl. anytime any improvements are made at either of those resorts the rates went up. personally we like temptations the way it is. our room was always clean, plenty of hot water, good food & drink, and a fantastic staff. all this at a reasonable price.
While we welcome the changes/remodel we too have concerns over future prices. However how many other resorts have a pretty much dedicated website ( ie this one !! ) Surely the resort owners would be foolish to ignore this ?? $500 a night puts prices above Hedo and trust me the rooms there are a dump. I'm not sure what the British visitor percentage is to TTR but that kind of price would rule most of us out I fear after paying for flights etc. Just booked through Alpharooms for £130 a night for 11 nights end of July. Long may this continue or else Jackie will have quite a few very sexy dresses & high heel shoes for sale.
This. I got pneumonia and two other couples who left after us also had pneumonia or bronchitis when they returned home.
