It is a bit extreme to call the resort a dump. I guess if you create a scale of dump to awesome and compare to newer resorts it would land at the bottom. Besides the 4 year renovation and new $800/night price structure (I'm doing the fisherman thing here ), don't overlook the fact that the new design is ugly. From what I see in the concept video, I don't like it but that is not the type of architecture I like. Some people may think it is fantastic. Of course none of that matters when you are partying with fun people. I'll definitely go if we can afford it. $1000/night is pretty steep
A few points we agree on: If they get this all done and ready for guests in 10 months, I'll eat my underwear - hope its made of chocolate We think the new design and color scheme is hideous. Pink and purple......... ugh!! Sorry - just our thoughts. Agree with BigSexxy ...... they could strip the place down and bring it up to snuff and have a very nice, classy 4-star resort with a great vibe. Take out the sports pool and make it a hot-tub, add a couple more restuarants, take out Nice Shoes and the sports bar and make a NICE indoor nightclub/lounge bar for those hot and rainy nights. Upgrade food and booze and up the price accordingly. It doesn't take a rocket scientist on how to take what's there and make it way better. If Original resorts thinks that they can close for at the least 10 months, more than likely way longer, and think that once they open we'll all just start flowing thru the doors again - well, thats pretty optomistic. They are giving another adult only hotel in Cancun an amazing opportunity to pick up TTR repeat customers and potentially keep them. And for those who call it a dump right now, well thats stretching it. I've stayed in "5 star" resorts in Jamaica and had the same kind of room problems. And I've also seen "rif-raf" in those resorts as well. Lastly, we can afford to pay $500 bucks a night - but we'd rather pay less and still slum it with the partiers at TTR!!!
Time to open another Temptation resort on Pacific side Well folks if Original resorts were smart what a better time to go back to the Pacific side of Mexico ? If they could buy back or lease the former Desire/Temptation in San jose del cabo or similar in Puerto Vallarta now is the time. It will likely take a minimum or a year and a half to two years to change Cancun TTR. Demand is huge for this concept as there is nothing on the market out there, sex sells always has always will but for lots of people dropping the thong is an issue. Laws of supply and demand. Open up a resort on the Pacific side with a medium number of rooms to keep a certain percentage of your clientele happy and it will be full. Have the two desires to keep the east coasters who won't change locations happy and expand your existing clientele so when you do open back up you have volume. My thoughts...
I'm waiting for Steve to announce he's negotiated monthly Cancuncare takeovers with another of the adult only resorts...run that thing Boobs Cruise style for a week!!
You hit the nail on the head. The resort is in dire need of a remodel and there is a huge difference between that and the stark, sterile, ultra modern hipster hotel with an orifice for a front entrance. What's up with that anyway? It seems painfully obvious that OR is done with the core customers that TTR currently has. If OR wanted to keep it's current customer base they would have polled the Premier members, and repeaters, as to what they would like to see in the way of improvements, changes and additions and developed their plan from that data. That kind of information is practically free yet Platinum level for a business that wants to keep their customers happy and returning. Given the location and the crappy beach, what they're doing seems insane but what do I know? I'm just the loco gringo that spends 18 days a year at their resort.
Yeah they made decisions based upon what they want it to be, not what their customers wanted. Hey, I wish them luck with it. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
So what happens to all the employees?? They are going to have to get new jobs I'm sure. Going to be hard to restaff the new place with the same caliber of people.
No kidding, did you listen to that designer explain the project. He was bragging about how he could bring the Mexican art culture to the forefront with his designs, and how important that was to the concept. pllllleeeeaaasssseee......
