I got the wifi this trip and unlike September it worked really well.. I could use it in my room, and didn't have to raise my arms in the air in search of a signal.. I didn't get the card from the machine by the buffet, I just paid on line.. The card machine only takes pesos..
You would open your browser first, which would go through the login process, then you can use WhatsApp.
I have one question: If you are at TTR, why in the hell are you trying to get on the internet? TTR is the place where videos which get put on the internet are actually recorded..... go get some real world, just sayin'. Enjoy life! Life ain't behind any screen, anywhere. OK, off soapbox.
I understand the pain of 'no internet' when you really need it. Alternative strategy: get yourself down to Hooters in the Hotel Zone - apparently they have free wi-fi!
Wi-Fi would have been nice though. We misplaced one of our phones this past trip, so we turned on the data roaming on our other phone to quickly download and run the FindMyPhone app. We found the other phone (in the pocket of a pair of pants). Arrived home and received a roaming charge of $187 on our phone bill (for just over 5 MB of data usage). Ouch. Definitely should have just purchased Wi-Fi for the day (or had the smarts to check the most obvious place in the world where the phone was likely located...)
