Well said Steve, I felt embarrassed to be from the UK with the groups that were there when we were, there were large groups but thank goodness not 42 of them! Not too sure, but the ones I spoke to came with Thomas Cook. To make things worse some couples were bounced to other hotels (hotels with kids) as TTR said they were full. And yes they were hitting on the females. You can imagine what they were like arriving on Lingerie night.
One year (2000 i think) my buddy n i were at a resort in Puerto Vallarta, and a group of 43 girls were bumped from their resort to ours. It totally changed the dynamic of the place. It was horrible LMAO!! Some of the other girls on the resort weren't impressed but we didn't complain lol
Really?? 43 girls bumped to ur resort?? What a shame...I mean..really..it must have been horrible to witness that. I would wish that on no one
If everyone could take a moment and look up the definition of "racism" it would be appreciated. Its overused and inappropriate in almost all cases.
I think its under used Its racist to discriminate against say blacks, yet when its against whites its always called something else, progressive correctness or something like that. Ive seen too many gov't adds, White's need not apply, but they claim its not racism cause their trying to have more visable minorities in the work force. In Canada whites ( males even more) are the most racially victimized group. I don't believe Steve was Racist in this thread in any way.
I'll stick with my original statement that I havn't seen any racism at the resort, but I stand corrected on the parenthetical addition. Perhaps I should have said (Nor have I seen any negative bias against Brits or any other group.) It's the way individuals or groups act that causes a negative reaction, not where they are from.
agree on the racist stuff - gets old when anyone uses the word in the wrong context and shows their ignorance as there are in fact very few true racists, as a racist basically stands to believe that his/her race is superior to other races..........all people show some form of prejudice towards people of other races.............. the problem is in the semantics - when ignorant, gullible people confuse racism with prejudice and associate prejudicial sentiment with racist intent just thought i would clear all that up as i am certainly prejudicial in the way i look at others ..............just as everyone else on gods green earth is however - really prefer that people not call me a "racist" as i am not exactly sure how my race would be classified in in the first place?!?!?! my racial make-up is so wide, varied and all bonified and accurate per my family tree/ancestry.com.................. i have to be very careful that who i am as a multi racial religously indifferent raffishsiterian freak does not get misinterpreted as " racist" (a) part indian - cause i like venison, and the florida state seminoles and i got an indian card from my mom and i get free medical/dental (b) part irish - cause i drink like a fish and my grandparents on my mom side changed their name to farrell from o'farrell (c) part italian - cause i like pizza and i got black hair (honestly no actual proof on this one but hello - i like pizza) (d) part asian - because i prefer chicks with slant eyes and somebody on my dads side tapped a ying yang (e) part polish - because i can be pretty f'n stupid sometimes and my great grandfather had a jumbled up name like twiczorek (f) part african american cause im hung like a horse and back in the day - word has it - just saying that shit happend and i got proof (g) part christian cause im pretty cool with jesus and all but really dont care too much for going to sunday school and all that judging shit (h) half jewish - cause i love money and bagels (i) part tiny dancer - cause i am a groove machine and im part african american (j) part eskimo - cause i live in texas & winters are colder here than in mexico and every person who live north of the rio grande is part eskimo (k) part english - cause sometimes..........on a rare ocassion..........i can act "proper" (l) part swinger - cause a side of me would really like to bang some other random chicks - but there aint no way in hell t is going to allow that yeah i got some prejudices...............im just like everyone else but dont call me a racist until you figure out what race i am k? rob
We were at Temptations for our first visit on honeymoon last year and had a great time. Towards then end of our stay a group of single 'lads' arrived on Lingerie night and thought that it was like that all the time. They made a nuisance of themselves and definitely changed the atmosphere of the place. Yes I am sorry to say they were from England as I am. This year there were 2 groups of single 'lads' that arrived and also made thenselves unpopular. We were hoping this was just our bad luck to find the same thing as last year but Steve's post seems to show that it is an increasing problem. From UK there are 2 tour coumpaies who book blocks of room at TTR and get a good discount, if they don't sell the holdays they still have to pay for the rooms so it must be tempting to accept a booking for 42 in one go. The hotel don't necessarily know until the last minute who has booked via the tour companies in the UK and therefore may have little control. The tour companies just want to sell holidays and not get letf with unsold rooms, they don't really care whether a resort is overdosed with one particular group or another as long as they sell the rooms. They have 100's of destinations and care little for one resort or another. One solution would be for the hotel to tell the UK travel companies that it is couples only but that would exclude some nice single people that we met both last year and this. I doubt the travel companies have any motivation to limit the size of groups travelling to TTR. It is a shame if it is heading that way as I for one will not be returning if the signs are that the trend for sending large groups of singles continues. I was looking to book for next year until I spotted this thread, I will bool late noe and see what happens - maybe look to a couples only resort.
