Correct ,, one can always subscribe to a thread, ( watch ) , the participated just saved a step It was just a quick way to check for any activity in participated forums .
"Watching" a thread gives you a choice of receiving an email notification or having it show up in your alerts. The old forum didn't have alerts only email notifications.
Just logged in to find the new format in place and like what I see so far. May take a little getting used to however am finding my way around without too much trouble. Thanks for the upgrade Steve!
Steve how do you edit a posted message. It seems you can correct/edit for a brief time after posting, but eventually (an hour or so?) the ability to edit disappears.
The time limit on editing messages is set to 3 hours. We've had occasions in the past where people have decided to leave the forum and edited all their messages to ".....", also people editing their message out similarly once they have received an answer. In addition, spammers will sometimes make a quite innocent post, then come back a week later and edit their message to include a bunch of links to undesirable sites. So, the time limit is intended to be sufficient to fix typos etc but not sufficiently long enough for the above things to happen.
The only thing I've noticed about the new format that I don't like, is it seems to take me awhile to spot when the post was made. It's just not easily seen, it st least not to me.
In the "members online" section. Its list members, non-members, and robots. How does it know "robots"?
having a hard time with this new forum. probably the main reason i havent been on it lately. messed with it for 20 min and couldnt figure out how to change my signature :-(
