I hate using dollars here too. I always feel like I'm getting ripped up with less-than-favorable exchange rates and prefer just using pesos. That being said, I do like using my debit or credit cards...all from the US. Aside from Walmart not being able to charge my US card back in April, I haven't had many problems with this form of payment. I forgot to mention that, when I tried to pay with my cc in Walmart and they told me there was some new rule about how much one could charge on a US card, they did try to over-ride it and charge my card. They could never make it work (at the check-out lines in the front of the store, nor at the customer service desk), even though I was able to use my card without any problems, in the pharmacy just minutes before. Surprisingly, Walmart let me use their phone to call my credit card company who gave some advice, but even entering the card number manually didn't work. (and, yes, there was plenty of money in the bank to cover the transactions so that wasn't the problem.) It was a weird situation and I ended up having to go to the ATM to get cash and then return. Since that ordeal, I don't feel they are worthy of my money and now, with the latest "law", they are making it even harder to take my money and it's not worth the effort when I can just go elsewhere.
Good points all but if they post their exchange rate, IN US DOLLARS, then they should By God accept the dollars for what you buy in the store, with the upper limit of $250 which is fine,. ¿SI o NO?
Mat, I think Susan in Cancun reported that Wallymart takes US credit cards, but with some upper spending limit. PS - We missed you Sat at UFC. We could have used a designated driver.
