If they shut down the resort for a reno they will shoo themselves in the cash foot for sure, or they will try and push Desire for all the TTR people, but that wont work unless they bring the prices down for them. Taking over another resort, newer or building a new one makes more sense, and shutting down\selling the current location. In most cases major renos mean a sale is in the works. The reviews of hedo do suck, but so do the ones for TTR, but we know different.
Check out the Grand Oasis Viva...they are converting to a similar 'vibe' as TTR and it is around the same size.
We checked out the Grand Oasis Viva. Yes, it is in Cancun and it bills itself as an all adult resort. So far so good, right? And under amenities it lists baby sitting. Now, I'll admit that I have come across a few folks at TTR that could have used the baby sitting, but doesn't all adult mean no kids? Am I missing something here?
I'd find it hard to believe that they'd 'tear the hotel down'. TTR is likely their most profitable resort. I did hear back in July from a senior source that they'd be rebuilding sections in a phased manner one by one to result in a higher capacity when finished. Not sure when that might start, but more and more people seem to be hearing about it.
I saw that, and cribs are avail on request? We're just about to go to TTR for the first time. I agree paying more would limit the masses. We didn't choose to go here for luxury...that said clean and nice is always welcome. crap, you can't even stay downtown Chicago for less than 200 night. When you think about it, it's very reasonably priced for all that food and booze! one of my coworkers recently went to hedo. He said it is a total dump.
Webpage is not updated yet and the public launch hasn't happened yet. The re-branding is underway, check out this link that has more info of how it will supposedly be when finished: Grand Oasis Viva Bear in mind that the new Manager tasked with the re-branding previously worked at Temptation and Desire for many years.
