We asked lots of people these same questions last week and got no definitive answer. They were doing significant painting to all the outside hotel areas around the sexy pool - 5000 & 3000 block. Resurfacing the planter boxes/walkways and repainting all 3/4 floors of the exterior. We were there for 10-days and they were working on it all 10-days. They just resurfaced the Paty'O floor, they just built a Premier deck & Premier bar complete with plumbing. If they start to tear down/remodel rooms they will start around the quiet pool - those rooms are the oldest. If they improve the resort then they can and should charge more. Not sure where else you get all inclusive & a non-stop party for under $200 a night, but please if you do find it - let me know. Our last 4 trips - the most we have paid is $165 a night and felt we still got a good deal.
We love Desire & Pearl, but won't be giving Hedo a go until the reviews improve. Comments like "no ceiling leaks this time" and "a couple of room break ins" and this quote "My only beef with this place....that we paid a lot, I mean a lot of money.....for a resort that is at the very very very best a 4 star property....but more realistically a 3.5 star. I would definately go back, but only if I was paying 3.5 star prices.... I have been to Temptation in Cancun, and that was way more elegant, classy, updated, and all around a much better property, for much less than what we paid. Basically you are paying for the name and the atmosphere." :daisy:
There is zero chance of the mgt ever being straight up with anyone. That is just the way they are. I saw in a Premier email that they would knock off 12% of any balance if the members on the finance plan would pay the remaining balance. Taking a haircut on the outstanding principal, and walking away from 10-15% interest makes me wonder if they don't have some sort of cash need.
When I first read this post my initial thought was "Noooooo!!!!" But I have to be honest, it would be nice if there were more resorts like TTR (not Hedo....but TTR). We have looked a million times and have never found anything like TTR. That's why we keep going back - and are trying to plan our 6th time for May. So I truly hope that it does not close. And honestly with the constant reno's they are doing I doubt it would close completely.
I get those emails every month, I think it's just a matter of them prefering to have all the cash in hand as opposed to trickling in a bit at a time.
Really... That's not a bad idea... Do the finance, then when a nice tax return comes in, pay it off and not have to think about it for another 180 nights of TTR action!
Wouldn't that be my damn luck....I go in 30 days and it closes down in 90 after I fall in love with it. .........UGHHHHHH- Oh well, I better make the best of this First Trip!!! :xyxthumbs:
Perhaps we should all chip in our money and open our own resort with a TTR atmosphere, its obvious that its needed! I dont think they gave the cabo one enough time to mature, it takes a good solid 2-3 years to get the positive word out there.
We decided to take the 'culture shock treatment style' introduction to a LS supportive resort (Desire) in 2011 for 3 days and it was an outstanding experience. We met so many awesome people! We're not truly "in the lifestyle", but like to have a very good time ... and would go back in a second. Ya, the reviews do seem to be fairly poor as of late for Hedo. With so much $ being invested in TTR upgrades through the last year, we'd have to agree that it'd seem odd to have the resort shut down for a major renovation. If it does, well back to Desire or time to try Pearl.
