Matt, Terri, Mike & Cheese ~ I just wanted to give you a "great job" post. I am sooo proud of all of you. I was only an occasional smoker when I was younger so I don't know what it's like to quit, but I can only imagine. I love Caffeine Free Pepsi and it would kill me not to have one. Just take it day by day and be proud of that. Drink lots of water ~ I hear that helps. Great Job to all of you, Angie
I think I know the one you mean Jen, it's by Allen Carr and called 'the easy way to give up smoking' (I think). I didn't read it but Alison, on the left in my avatar, gave up on new years day this year after reading it and it totally worked. She smoked a lot more than me, for longer and has done brilliantly. A few people we know have now read it and also given up. Worth a shot if you're struggling definitely. Terri, Mike, Cheeze - keep it up! Everyone's doing great. Terri, I upped my exercise intake too, after I gave up - I was a bit worried I was gonna pile on the pounds but have done fine and even lost some with weight watchers! Hurrah! Jen
Well today is 2 weeks for me. I can't believe it really. I know that I am glad I wasn't outside in the wind we had yesterday trying to get my fix. Its amazing.....now when I am in the elevator and smell the smoke on people who were outside I cringe. Did I smell like that? OMG!! One day at a time. Tell yourself, one more day....the cravings only last a few min then you can get on with your free life. I have been a little cranky lately (just ask angie) but thats part of it and it goes away. See you all on the other side!! Matt
Great job everybody!!! My first husband smoked, I never did. My daugther (from that marriage) wants her dad to quit. He trys, several times, just as some of my friends do. I guess it is just like any change in behavior, like excercise or eating, you just have to find that moment that it is right for you. My mom quit 13 years ago through a stop smoking program at the hospital at work. I remember that she had to keep a jar in the living room, that had this picture taped to it of this poor man that was missing half his throat, and the jar had old cig butts in water and smelled awful. I think it is great to go cold turkey, but remember there all those things out there to help, patches, gums, books, etc. Best of luck to all of you!
WARNING: Really gross Picture http://www-medlib.med.utah.edu/WebPath/LUNGHTML/LUNG067.htmloss I know when I quit someday, pictures like these would help. So I hope it helps you guys and it also said that when you quit smoking it GREATLY reduces your chances of getting lung cancer. And after 10- 15 years your lungs repair themselves and appear the same as a person who has never smoked. Keep it up you guys if you can do it maybe I can someday too. You guys are very inspirational to me.
8) Hey guys, could not check in, web page was down for two days. Well this 4 day and I still have not had a smoke. Thursday was very hard for me, stress out,was nuts, but did not give in. I can say I feel great. Terri, How are you doing. And Cheeze Crazymike and Diane
My hat's off to all of you that are facing this challenge! I went from a 3 pack a day habit to tobacco free in 1981. If I can do it you can too!
