Terri, not had the itching, but when I gave up I had a shocking cough for about 4 weeks, worse than your average 'smokers cough'. I found I bit my nails more too. Do any smokers / ex-smokers find that when you're on a flight home from holiday, half the plane is coughing their lungs out from the excess of holiday smoking? I'm SO looking forward to my next flight where I won't have that! All the way home from Cancun in May I was coughing, it's not good. Jen

Hi Everyone! I just saw this post and wanted you all to know that quiting smoking is the best decision that I have ever made. I smoked for about 8 years, but I don't think it matters if you smoked for 8 months, 8 years or 80 years, when your addicted your addicted. I found this amazing website that really really helped me in the begining its http://www.quitnet.com. It was amazing in the beginning. I met so many people on the forum and just read a lot about other people's experiences that were so similar to mine. I don't tend to go there very often now, just lost touch I guess and got stronger, but the people there are great. I never thought that I would make it thru that first day, or that first week. There were so many milestones that I reached and now its been 1 year, 8 months and some odd days. I still can't believe it. It gets so much better. Each day gets so much easier. You just have to remember WHY your quiting, and make sure that your quiting for YOU. And that this is a choice. You can have a smoke whenever you want, you just NEED to choose not to smoke. Everyday you need to make that choice. This will be my first vacation in the sun, drinking all day without a smoke to accompany me but I know I will be ok. If you all keep at it, don't give in, not even just once, then by the time I see some of you in February you will so be over this smoking thing. You just need to believe and you need to NOT give in. NOT ONE PUFF EVER! this is what will make you a winner, if you don't give into that one puff then you will NOT want a smoke. Trust me from experience. It's really really hard in the beginning but the outcome is so worth it. I hope you all make it, I hope that you all believe in yourselves enough to know that there are so many of us here that are cheering for you. DON'T cave! Good luck to you all and if anyone needs to talk I am here for you. Take Care, sorry for the ramble! Sandy
Not a ramble at all! A good post I'd say & well done you for 1 year, 8 months and some odd days  Jen
 Sandy77. Nice post , And thank you. Today was very bad with the urge again. Matt is this normal. All day today I was in need for a smoke bad. But like yesterday did not give in. It is getting harder and harder everyday. Terri, How are you doing with the urge for a smoke. Cheeze, What about you. No smokes.
CrazyMike you can do it ... Get something to chew on ! Or put something in your mouth (now dont think dirty  ) Just keep up the good work
Mike..the past couple of days have been extremely stressful at work. On Monday, I swear, if I had a butt, I would have smoked it. Sometimes the cravings are bad. If you really think about it though, it only lasts for a little bit, and then it's gone. I am still eating like a pig though, and I wish I could stop that! Be strong Mike, and I'll do the same! Terri
Terri I know what you talking about stress ... Just keep on doing what you are doing and u wont smoke at all ..... arty: Lisa
