OK, this may be a silly question, but I have been so itchy lately. Especially my hands. I know when you stop smoking, all of the toxins are leaving your body. Some people break out, get cold sores, etc. I guess it affects soft tissue. I was just wondering if this is a side effect.

I was thinking of that. I'll try it. I'm just wondering if anyone has heard of this.

I'm not familiar with the full withdrawl syptoms of smoking, but I do know that sometimes my body gets out of balance chemically and I itch so bad that I have to go to the Dr. and get a shot of benydryl or I'll literally scratch my skin off til it bleeds.

I'm also allergic to morphine so when I have an operation, they give me a shot of benedryl right after the morphine or the same thing happens...I scratch till it bleeds.

Someone like Rondo might know the answer to the itchy question though....but the benydryl works for me.

Thanks Michelle. I'm glad I'm not the only itchy one. My hands hurt from scratching! I'm going to the store tomorrow. :D

I get itchy in the winter because of all the cold tempatures and hot baths. Aveeno is also a really good lotion for dry, itchy winter skin. They also have oatmeal baths that take away the itch temporarily.

I do too, especially when I'm trying to go to sleep. I hate that! This is much worse than that though. Aveeno is awesome!

    Terri,

I Googled for an answer to your question. Itching is a very common side effect if your taking Zyban or using a Nicotine patch. I could not find any mention of itching and quitting cold turkey.

It could be the dry air this time of year, or it could be nerves.
