Last night I went to Du Mexique and had the best food I have tasted since arriving in Cancun. This is a small restaurant on Bonampak - only room for 20 covers. The chef is French and the menu changes every night, depending on what he buys at the market.
Friday nights there is a pianist tinkling the ivories.

There is a small pleasant terrace outside to have pre dinner drinks.Service was great, the Chef comes out to meet and greet everyone and discuss the menu. His wife is an excellent hostess.

    All fabulous.
It was expensive but so worth it.
I have found my special spot for birthdays etc.
    Love

    Hey Tracey,

I have heard of how good this place is but have never tried it.

20 covers? What the hell are you talking about amiga? Do you mean that they can only cook 20 main dishes at a time, in the sense that a "cover" is the main course? Like "we served 150 covers tonight." Which could happen if they had 75 seats but turned their tables 2 times.

Or do you mean that they only have 20 seats for their guests? In which case why didn't you say 20 seats?

I am easily confused as you can tell. So how many humans can they accomodate at any point in time, if all had their butts in a chair at a table? And it does not count for two butts in a single chair. Each person must have their own seat.

(Know that this is in the spirit of having some fun.)

I guess that depends on how large the Butts are!!!
However to answer your question there are 20 seats. Dinner takes a while as pate is served (complimentary- but of course we know its costed in) before orders are taken. Then after main cousre another comp course of a cheeseboard is served before pudding. So its a 5 course meal.

I cannot imagine them asking anyone to leave as new guests would be arriving.

Its small intimate and a place to linger over some scrummy food.

    Go and enjoy it.

A friend was telling me about this place the other night.

He did say that you had to make a reservation and that the minimum you are to pay per person is 500 pesos.

That may or may not be correct but thats what I heard, in addition to it being excellent of course.
