lanceroz That is bizarre since the way to call the US from Mexico is: 0 0 1 - area code - 7 digit number Verizon must be wacky. Do you mean voice mails or emails? Good luck to all you Verizon customers. I still feel the best way for travelers is to rent a phone from Cancun Valet. $.69 per minute with PER SECOND BILLING. No taxes. Phone comes preprogrammed with up to 8 (I think 8) numbers. $10 one time fee for setup and delivery. $5 minimum cost per day. You don't have to find an internet cafe, risk high access costs dialing from the hotel or trying to find and use a pay phone. It doesn't get any simpler than this to stay in touch or be accessible for emergencies.
Yeah I know it is wierd! I tried the 0 0 1 and nothing got some lady speaking spanish every time. I meant emails, since I have the Treo and I get all my emails sent to my phone as well.. Voice mails you can get easy, same way as dialing for some one else but when your VM message comes up just hit the # key and enter password... I tried 0 0 1, and then 0 0 1 1 or 0 1 1 all nothing. The only thing that worked was 0 1 1 1 don't know why :?:
Heres the dialing instructions from Verizon. http://mobileoptions.vzw.com/internationalsvcs/cdmadialinginst.html I was there earlier in the month. Made and received calls with no problem. I will let you know what it cost when I get the bill.[/url]
No texting or picture messaging just as it says at the link above. But I was able to call and get my voice mail.
Thought that I would retrieve this thread from the archives... My wife flew down to Cancun today to meet up with a girlfriend for a few days of peace and quiet before the rest of us make it down and we have indeed been texting with Verizon. So it appears that you can now text back and forth from Cancun with Verizon Wireless. At least for now. Ha! But also not sure of the cost, so I will have to follow up when I receive my bill next month.
G, Hope you are doing well. When are YOU headed back? How nice that the wife would leave you and go without you. I bet you are making her pay in some way. T.J.
I got the bill from verizon, $23.90 extra for roaming my phone was on for 7 days and made and/or received 8 to 10 calls a day. Also we were in Cancun last week and yes text messaging worked fine. Geo
