They have some really nasty stuff that I think has a second use as fuel for mopeds and they have Jose Cuervo. Don't ask for a shot of tequila ask specifically for the Jose unless you want to try the moped fuel.

It sounds like we will be there the same week. My husband loves Tequila more then me.. Just kidding... But he does really follow the good stuff so maybe we can meet and have some fine stuff and share some stories about what you think is good... We are going May 9th - 16th

they had El Himador reposado when i was there. thats the best you'll see there. No Don Julio or Patron.
I don't do the salt or lemon thing with tequila, I like to sip it if it's good.
So I had to make sure they didn't put any salted lemons in it. yuk.
Oh ya, the Jose Quervo is a reposado too.

Go to Walmart, they have Don Julio for $28. you just won't find a better price. And you have a choice of silver, reposado, or anejo.
I'm smacking my lips just thinking about it.

    cheers

There's also a shop inside the mall....kind of in the middle that sells all kinds of stuff but they have a whole wall of tequila!!! It was like heaven when I found it!! Anyway, you could sample a lot of them and a lot of stuff you've never heard of or seen back here in the US......I bought some awesome stuff I can't remember the name of but will buy it again in 30 days!!!

100 Anos, Jose Quervo, & something similar to lighter fluid.

I am not a big tequila drinker, and have not tried the 100 Anos. Jose is sure not very high on the tequila ladder, but much better than the lighter fluid they were serving.

Anyone got an opinion on the 100 Anos?

El Jimador is considered a good, moderate repasado, which is good for shots and in margaritas. Jose Cuervo is not a repasado. Cuervo uses suger in it's distilling process to accerate the maturity of the finished product. A couple of years ago in Puerto Vallarta, I remember seeing the "imposter" Cuervo bottles on a booze cruise-----looks allmost like the Cuervo Gold bottles, but is a rot-gut----NASTY!

    Good tequila... my favorite

Last time we were there we took a taxi ride to the mall liquor store across the street from Walmart. I bought a bottle of Aho Toro Anjeo, Tres Mujeres Anjeo and Don Edwardo Anjejo. All three are excelent..... Can you guess I like great Anjeo's?
Anyway... If you take your bottle to the swimup bar they will keep it on ice for you.
Then you can spend the day at the pool, laying low and sipping slow..... And, you dont have to drink the Moped fuel they serve...

    hey there sheik,
great handle by the way, i love Frank Zappa

you're right about the cuervo, it was the "gold". I'd completely forgotten about 100 Anos, which IMO is better than El Himador.
we were in P.V. last year, and I must have seen a dozen tequila shops, which isn't surprising considering all tequilas are made within that state.
I remember doing a lot of sampling that day. It was interesting.
I don't recall the brand, but the most expensive I saw, at $90, was one
I liked the least. It was an anejo, and altho it was smooth, It was too woody for me.
to each his own I guess.

    cheers

Sounds like I will be hitting the liquor store to buy a few bottles of things you can't get here in the States.

Looks like there are going to be some very fun people down there when we are.......can't wait to make some new friends, enjoy the sun, drink some tequila and party !!
