To me, this is the gamble. If you close the entire hotel for 6 months to a year, your customers will vacation somewhere else during that time. Some are going to have a great vacation elsewhere. Different? Probably but great in other ways. Some are going to think "Yeah I would do this again", etc. What percentage of your repeat customers never come back? What percentage of your staff never come back after being on the street or even going back where they came from for a year? Some of the staff we are friends with are already making plans for other employment during the shutdown. The TTR staff is one of the deciding factors we always discuss whenever we think about going other places. Maybe I'm too conservative, but I think there are less risky ways to do it without shutting down entirely? But hey - I've never owned a resort before either. Firm
 While I agree about it needing a makeover, I don't like the idea of it doubling in size and changing totally. Granted I've only been once but we knew before leaving there we were repeaters. Wondering if the new 10 story tower and luxury accomodations will mean luxury prices making multiple trips more difficult. New is nice, but too new and too diff, I'm not so sure. That said, I'd have to try it out at least once! Well there's an option, and money wise it might make sense for them to keep the party going during a remodel.
I'd have thought unlikely John. They will probably see increased occupancy at both resorts at full Desire price while closed.
It's always a possibility, let's wait for some set in stone date announcements and see how things look then.
Zero chance - DRM and DP only have 110 & 88 rooms respectively and Original would not lower there rates. Cheapest room is $400/night at DRM. Although, they might provide additional discounts to the Premier folks during that time period.
This is a thought that I just said to hubby. I like that its 800ish people at capacity. Doubling it makes me nervous. We have to have faith though.
Actually, I kinda like the atmosphere that is there now. You know, tacky, yet unrefined. It makes me want to do dirty things! ;-)
