We have all been to other hotels beside TTR. Ones where we meet maybe two or three other people during an entire week. And we were not able to start a TTR style party. So it must be the mass of like minded people that make the difference.. yeah, but.. we've all been there at TTR when it's dead because of the crowd. We've waited it out and a new crowd came in and off we went again. But that new crowd learned the behavior from someplace, learned that TTR wasn't like other hotels that you kept to yourself. They learned that from the Repeaters, people that have experienced it before. And since TTR has one of the largest group of Repeaters of any hotel in Cancun we usually make up a good part of the crowd. Say 1/3 to 1/2 at any given time at the now 400 room hotel.

Double the size of the hotel to 800 rooms and we're now looking at 1/6 to 1/4. Without the right instigators (read entertainment crew) that trained the original Repeaters that passed on the knowledge going forward, is that 1/6 to 1/4 percentage enough to train all the new virgins that will come? Or will the new 400 rooms be filled with Bachelor parties looking for loose women or more of the adult only couples that look down on topless females like at other Cancun hotels. Will the vibe survive.

And no I don't think we can just make it happen anyway, that was proved at the GOV when people said they would just do it there.

It takes a perfect storm to create a TTR and there is a 10 month cold front aimed at TTR.

Don't get me wrong, I really, really want TTR to survive as the place that it is. I just have serious doubts that it will, and pray that I'm wrong.

Jamie I am not trying to start something, but you posted recently about a group preparing to buy TTR in Nov. What's happening on that?
And now with the recent news, you are questioning TTR's survival.

There are so many red herrings in this saga that don't fit the plot. Nothing is adding up.

And as always drama surrounds our beloved TTR

They were pissed as shit since they had talk the boss and he said he didn't have any upgrades in the works. Everyone figured that the plans from 3 years ago were dead since nothing was happening. Even after what we heard last year around May and then nothing.

But who knows.. with the announced delay.... But I REALLY LOVE MY TTR!!!!!!

With so much talk we have to figure this upgrade is coming eventually be it 2015 or 2016 or later. The company obviously doesn't want plans leaked prematurely as people will stop booking for the rumoured closure months. The hotel still wants those bookings as they'll just move people to other hotels if TTR is closed.

I'm wondering if that's why they've now backpedaled on the date? They weren't prepared for the story to hit and now need to make sure they are prepared for when they make the announcement...

We were involved with the shut down of Cabo.
We had booked Halloween week and they shut it down Jun 13. The honored the reservation price and moved us to Desire Rm or Pearl, (we chose RM) but the dates were already booked so we had to move it back a week. Lost 7 of the 12 couples due to inability to change vacation dates. They WILL book until the official notice is made. I would bet that they will move you to RM or Pearl (if they do not get another hotel leased) but I would watch the dates. IF you go during a busy time, they might not be able to accommodate you. If you have flexibility in vacations, it will be a win win as they should honor your price.
Just my $.02 worth. We have already booked for the end of Feb 2015.
