Well, that is why I asked. I did not know. I was secretly hoping you knew of some grand plan for alternate accommodations and were just not allowed to share yet. Thanks.

But you have to subtract out the whole all you can eat and drink costs. With all the degenerates here you would make like 5 dollars a day per room if you are lucky. :daveandmo:

I'm assuming 65% operating costs so you can see about a million dollar profit year. Assuming a permanent improvement fund, bonuses, other non fixed expenses. If it wasn't making money they wouldn't certainly be there

The Golden Parnassus was for sale earlier this year, or still is? Might give you an idea on the going rate.

Since they still own Sea Adventure but lease it out, can we take over the beach side of the resort during the renovation? With constant shuttles downtown instead of the local mini van bus of course. Steve can run his cruise off of their dock!

Another possibility....they are trying to change the "perception" of it being a "swingers" resort. Id like to know how much business they lose on that perception alone (if there is a way to know), as compared to current profits vs. potential proifits. The De La Pena family didnt get rich being bad business people, and Im sure they have a reason for this move.

We have close friends that love to get rowdy and loud like us, and we have tried to get them to come with us to TTR, but it usually takes one look at the TR's on Trip Advisor, and they back out pretty quick. We love TTR and hope it doesn't change conceptually, but we are in the huge minority of friends close to us, that have been even to a resort like TTR.

I might be crazy, but I don't think they would do well running a "family" resort at that location. Even with an upgrade, are they competitive with other resorts that have better beaches?

If they increase the price due to the upgrade, why would anyone want to go there for a "family" vacation considering their location and poor beach access?

They would still need to keep it adult oriented with the party atmosphere. Without that, they won't compete well.

I would never have booked the place without the adult theme. It only appealed to me largely because of its adult "spring break" theme. If it was a family resort, I would have gone elsewhere that has better beaches and closer to the action in Cancun.

    Party On!

Based upon Steve's report of the news release, it appears as if TTR as we know it is changing. Without doubt, a closing is likely during construction if for no other reason than liability. Management will not take a chance on potential public injuries (even in Mexico). Therefore, here is a suggestion! Let the party continue! There are two many unknowns to predict the future (what's new??) Let's make each moment around the sexy pool, theme nights and BOOB CRUISES surge with energy! If you haven't booked a cruise, do so! If you haven't booked another stay at TTR prior to June, 2015 seriously investigate the possibility. New motto: Partying more, worrying less creates happy people! :liebe011:
