In the end, "market research" and "smart business persons" have been outwitted many times by market conditions - i.e. the customers decided to take their business elsewhere. Target took sears business when sears decided they knew what was good for their customers and decided to ignore the marketplace. Amazon took everyone's business when people failed to adapt accordingly.

Maybe this evolution for TTR works, maybe TTR becomes just another hotel. TTR wasn't always TTR, and if they ignore the existing customer base someone will fill the gap. Fill in the four x factors (alcohol, topless optional, multiple restaurants, party atmosphere), fill it with TTR refugees and see what happens. Maybe they decide "south beach chic" isn't as important to them as party with their friends.

One thing is certain. We won't convince each other to change our minds ;-) so we all will have to wait and see

    I agree.

They also don't particularly have a good track record in the past. TTR and a much smaller Desire resort are their only successes. They had plenty of failures in the past.

This is a totally new market they are attempting to play in. They will be taking on the big boys in the 5 star market that have deep pockets, have better locations, better beaches, etc.

    Pride comes before a fall.

So I was wondering... Everyone is quoting that they vacation at TTR for $2,500...

I added up my vacation, granted it's for 15 nights, but it was $2,916 for the referral room, $1,000 for air fare, and $2,500 in spending and tip money. Yeah, I guess I tend to tip good.. :)

But I'm spending about $6,500 for my vacation... with the room running about $200 a night... won't take much of an increase to price me out. :(

Yeah we are probably in that same spending range. I suppose I could tip less to cover the difference but why should the staff suffer to create hipster-tation ?

IMHO they had to do this. The hotel was the oldest on the strip, they kept it full by being exceptionally creative with their niche. It was time to $h/¥ or get off the pot. One or the other, either rebuild from ground up or run it a few more years and walk away from it after wringing every dollar they could from it.

Eh, not the first time someone didn't want me ;-) lol. I'm sure my ego can take the hit, lol. It's kind of like dating, if the pretty girl at the bar says no, there is usually another pretty girl a couple of bar stools away, who would love you to buy her a drink. Maybe she's a blond and you dig redheads, but maybe if she digs you you roll with it. [emoji6] [emoji12] [emoji1] [emoji1]

Clearly I am late to this party. Where are you all getting the information referenced in your posts about the "new" Temptations? Was there a press release I missed? LOL
