No, I think Desire is much like Temptation in that the right people make the party (and they did our last trip there) however I think the argument is the price, i.e. 350-450 per night or more. See my comments above. Also, I think collectively we all agreed that Noone went to TTR for the facilities... it was a more affordable version of the party.

Well said.... Agree with everything you said.... All valid points... It's hard to please everyone as people were complaining about it being tired and dated and needing improvements and it's getting a complete makeover and now they complain they will be priced out. I hope you're rite with everything you said. And I'm hoping it'll attract more people and as a single and solo guest a few time it would be great to see a few more singles in the mix too. One of the things I love about TTR is the mix of young, old and couples and singles. It's a real mix and I think that's what makes it such a great atmosphere. [emoji41][emoji1419]

it looks like they want to change their demographic to me. the pictures ARE NOT an accident. Current Temptation is a place for the Key West crowd. These new pictures are aimed at the South Beach/So-Cal pozer crowd ... people who go to Vegas and think paying $500 for something is superior to paying $300 for it simply because it strokes their ego. I think it changes the party atmosphere for the negative. It will attract the same type of people who pay $100 to visit the topless pools in Vegas but keep their tops on because they are more concerned with appearing wild than being wild ...and get an ego boost by not being topless when they could be. I don't think it will work. Current Temptation is spring break for adults. Those pictures are not.

Now the new building DOES look very cool and maybe i'm wrong, but I understand marketing, and those pictures are not aimed at the cancuncare crowd or 'show me your tits' crowd. Those are aimed at the 'Cabana and Bottle' crowd not the generic Mexican beer crowd.

So i am very skeptical because when we go on vacation we are not interested in how cool we are going to look on instagram or snapchat but it actual partying with naked titties in the party pool....and i really think that is in danger.

I think the party and sexual vibe at Temptation is completely dependent on the lack of pretense required to admit you like it and these pictures, as lovely as they are, SCREAM pretense.

we can assure you, they dont want the party to stop and they are not targeting 55+ crowd...there are PLENTY of clientele 20s to 40s that can afford a higher end resort. BiggerandBetterInTx hit the nail on the head. In their eyes, theyre simply taking out the trash. From what we're told, it wont be 500+ a night, but no one really knows outside ownership/upper management. They know what they have as far as the niche on the ultimate party/sensual atmosphere. why would they build another resort to compete with Desire when Original already has 2???

While we have dined with ownership, we never claimed to know them. Only some uppper management.

All really good and valid points. One thing that needs to be realized, Original KNOWS the loyalty to this hotel. Theyre trying to upgrade it for the better. But it IS a business. And its THEIR business. And the amount of market research they have done (from around the world I might add) would astound some of you. This WILL be for the better. But for those of you that were in the board room, when the multi million dollar contracts were signed, the designs were agreed upon, the rates were set, please continue to enlighten us.

Plenty of business people have made major mistakes in the past and have gone bankrupt.

McKinsey Consultants (top consultant firm in the world) did plenty of "market research" for Enron before it went out of business. They also did a lot of research for Kmart, which subsequently went out of business.

Only time will tell who is correct on this issue.
