theres a few propel out there that have the money and are all excited , but don't realize they will be alone and/or with a bunch of snobs in a 5*,, half empty resort.

    Correct.

If the volume of people drop in half, the party will suck.

Also, the "newer" clientele that come to afford the place probably won't want party music until 3AM like all the other 5 star resorts.

There is a reason every single 5 star resort in Cancun is quiet after 10PM.

it looks like they are trying to compete with Hidden Beach (Riviera Maya), which actually has no nice beach, can't enter the ocean....

That must be why they call it "Hidden" Beach.

This is exactly what I worry about for our trip scheduled Sept. 10-17. At that point, they are down to 2 weeks from closing.

On one hand, I am expecting the place to be packed and the party to be outrageous!! (oh, hell yes!)

On the other hand, I've had family that were the last guests at a closing hotel...struggling to get clean towels, no maid service, limited food & drinks, etc.

I just hope "the current TTR" is maintained & stocked until the very end.

What does this mean for premier members?? Each year the daily rate is significantly increased. So disappointed to hear members/guests are being lied to, and that the price is said to be THAT expensive. So sad.

I think everyone is jumping to conclusions here. We don't have pricing yet, so this $500 / night thing that everyone's throwing around is a mute point. Would I go at that price? No I wouldn't. But, lets be realistic. It won't be that much. Like you said, the demand isn't there, and the demand will dictate the price.

Its likely there will be some price increases, but I imagine there will be a range. From the renderings, you can see that some of the current buildings are still there. I would predict that pricing will range from just above current prices in those rooms, to well above in the brand new building. Will it bring a different clientele? Sure, but that increased pricing will also come with increased expectations of food and atmosphere. Something all guests will benefit from.

There are plenty of people in their 20's and 30's who enjoy the ttr atmosphere and that is clearly who they are trying to attract with this kind of redesign. Its contemporary and sleek. If they play it right I imagine they may be successful. To pretend that younger people won't be interested or can't afford it is silly. There are plenty of young people at nice resorts.

OK so I waited a little while to chime in on my thoughts, mostly because there are so many threads I wasn't really sure where to put them, but it seems like this one has now moved in a direction that my points will fit (I'll probably copy it to other places if it seems fitting so it has exposure to a large audience). My thoughts will probably be received well by some, and not by others, but you know me, and I always try to full explain myself and keep it fair (so this will probably be long).

My demo: I am 33, married, (Elyse is 32), we have a 4.5 year old son, from Philly. I am a computer scientist, and Elyse does engineering work). We party HARD always, entertain guests every weekend, go to the bar often, hit the beach in Delaware in the summer(sometimes family style, sometimes party time), aren't in the lifestyle, but do get a little crazy ;) and just generally really like to have fun. We come from working class families, paid for college ourselves, and we are not uppity pretentious douchebags (even though describing myself kind of makes me seem like one, but I thought it was helpful as it relates to some of my points). We make decent $, nothing crazy, and some is meant to be saved, but it is defiantly made to be spent. May will be our 4th trip to TTR in 2.5 years

Overall I am mostly excited about the news. We all knew there were some serious must needed changes required. But there are defiantly valid concerns related to the price increases.

    Some key points:
    • Do I like the design? Yes and No.
      • I think the tower is cool
      • I think the heavy glass and light changing as the day goes by seems cool
      • I think the rooms look kind of funky and that could be cool
      • But I do think some of the ultra modern design with white egg chairs is stupid (and should be left in south beach)
      • I think the pool being low, and then having that upper level outside party zone deck above it is awesome.
    • Do I like all the talk about "5 stars chic" - absolutely Not.
      • I know what those resorts are like. I stayed at the Royal on my honeymoon. The place was super nice, my beachfront room was amazing, the food was killer. The pool had some action and some fun moments, but only for like a 2 hour sweet window. The place was dead at 10:30pm.
      • I have actually been in the quiet pool (3 times...don't kill me)
      • I have never read a book on vacation
    • More Indoor bar/restaurant/club options - Sounds great to me!
      • I have vacationed May and Sept, and it is HOT. I would like some cooler places at night to hang that have AC or a breeze.
      • I thought the cigar bar would have been cool, but it was never opened
I think they should update to a 4-star level, with a 4 star price tag, and still have the same elements that I loved (sexy pool, repeater people, multiple restaurant options based on how fancy or casual you want to be, and fun loving perverts).

Right now I pay like $2500 for a 8 night trip. If it went to $3200, I would be totally fine with that. If you jumped to pricing equivalent to a secrets $4-5K, and the boringness of the people, then I will not return. I think the pricing is so low right now, and that's great because people can go 3-4 times a year, but I think people got very lucky for a very long time with that, and I couldn't see it lasting. Especially with all the complaints people have with some of the crappy rooms, bad smells, shitty pool bathroom, etc.

As many of the others have said I think the Beach and the location will keep the price at bay, and remember there are many different room options, so this whole thing might get everyone what they want at hopefully only a slightly higher price tag.

Obviously in their marketing materials they are going to hype it up and say it will be 5 star and this and that, but like what are they going to advertise in announcements "We are spending money to just make it a little bit better". Hopefully they have done their research and it is somewhere in between what it is now, and 5 star.

I personally don't like drinking from cheap plastic cups at night, and I do like going out to a nice dinner in dress-type clothes (pants sometimes haha). TTR isn't the only place I get to party, so when I do spend money to fly to a vacation destination, I want things to be better then what I experience on the weekends at home. I know I will have to pay for these things, so if we gain things like a better gym, nicer rooms, more restaurant options, and cooler versions of PatyO's and Nice Shoes, and we keep things like the Sexy pool, general vibe, casual restaurants, and awesomely shitty late-night food, then it seems like a win to me.

I have other friends in their 30's that wont go on vacation with us, because the resort looks dated and they think it will be too old and raunchy. I said it is dated, but doesn't have to be raunchy unless you are looking for that kind of thing. So hopefully this brings a happy medium. I don't think the crowd needs to completely change over, but hopefully it just opens it up a little bit more.

I always said that Temptation gives you options to have whatever kind of vacation you want, and hopefully what we will be getting now are just more of those options, with just a fair price increase related to these amenities and improvements. I don't want to see anyone getting "priced out" and not be able to go anymore, but maybe it be more like going 1.5-2.5 times a year, instead of 3-4.

A quick mock up, could be printed for a reasonable price via teespring on any color shirt except black. We could add month and group dates on the back

. In my experience, of which there is plenty, the party at desire, particularly Riviera Maya, is equal to or better than anything you'll find at temptations. I hate to jump in with that information, but get tired of reading comments suggesting one must choose between the TTR shit hole of a property, and a beautiful property that is desire, but is boring. It isn't. Fact. It's more expensive to be sure, but everything about it is better. Right down to the A/C and lack of mold. Among other reasons why we really prefer it, so much in fact that we bought DRM premier this past winter.
