Don't forget to check the link below (also in my signature). Some really good rates and lots of bookings going through recently. For the same dates as above: The link is: Compare & Save on Cheap Hotel Deals - HotelsCombined
Not sure how you got those rates, showing $2512 for me. Also note that your screenshot doesn't include taxes...(upper-right corner).
The rate I paid in Jan through Alpharooms for 10-29...11-05 was $214. It is now $515. April 1-7, 2018 is $592. Crazy.
Make sure if you are searching you clear your history and cookies. If not, these sites have been known to see that you've searched and will raise the price slightly to give the impression that rates are going up. Also, we just booked for December and found prices on Expedia of $406 a night for a lush tower suite. Our travel agent met the Expedia price and we've got direct flights out of Philly. This is more than we've paid before but we always have gotten garden rooms. We wanted a treat this trip . TTR booking by RicknAmanda posted Apr 11, 2017 at 8:20 AM
Well, I was all ready to jump on the "pay my mortgage with a CC and rack up points"....only to find out most mortgage companies/banks dont allow it, including ours, Wells Fargo. Wah, wah, wah..
Some companies in Canada charge a 2.5% +/- fee for CC payments...I assume to match what the particular CC charges them. Really can't win at this game. If you travel a lot for work and your employer pays your air / hotel etc you can enter your own rewards number at check-in I managed to rack up a sh*t ton of points in the past that way but lost most of them with mergers / expiration (US Airways and AA, and Marriott points).
You can pay mortgages with a CC through a online bill pay system, but....most of those charge a percentage of the bill payment, which can get pretty hefty. So, those 40k points someone racked up over the year making regular CC payments to online "Billpay", was cut in half because of those fees. Banks aren't dumb. Didnt take them long to cut out the "manufactured spending" to rack up points.
Thanks, seven nights, Sept 26- Oct 3rd. $1507 dollars, best price so far. Flights are about $900. Seems manageable.
