I think watching your drink or belongings is a "given" Unfortunately it has taken a tragedy with someone losing their life for the story to be taken seriously. The media has just brought the topic of "tainted alcohol " in Mexico to the front so to speak making people think about what has or is transpiring in Mexico. I do believe however that this is also happening in other countries and cities, it has taken this incident for some people to notice! It always takes one bad apple to spoil the barrel but even though I am somewhat nervous I will not let it over take me! I hope we have an absolute blast at Temptations being our first time and look forward to meeting new people and " Enjoy"
This story is really getting out of hand. The two young people in question had been drinking heavily and had BAC levels of .24 and ,25. 3 times the legal limit to be considered intoxicated. The blood screen was negative for the presence of other drugs. What evidence has anyone presented that the alcohol was tainted or they were Drugged? They partied to hard and paid a horrible price. If you want to blame the resort for over serving or for not having a life guard, OK. But the facts do not support the wild speculation that has been going on. We have traveled to all inclusive resorts many times including 4 trips to TTR. We have never had an issue. The same reasonable precautions (like not drinking with a certain comedian, wait that was in the US) will keep you safe. I'm sure the predators exist in every country, but they are rare. So book your trip and enjoy it.
I personally feel like this is a non issue. I don't think you should be nervous at all about this. I understand that it being your first time and now this is suddenly an issue can be somewhat unnerving but I have just not seen this as an issue. You should take it easy the first day at least the first few hours after your flight. Make sure you are drinking water(and yes you can drink the water at the resort). Bring your personal mug with lid. Minimize your risk and have a great time with out issue. Also When in November we will also be there then?
Heading down Nov 11-18. Everyone has made great points! All nice to hear!! Also nice to hear you can drink the water at the resort, other resorts we have been to in Cancun you could not! After hearing other people's opinions I think we will enjoy the resort a lot!! Thanks all!!
Been to Temptations years ago with no issues. We are getting ready to book a trip to Desire for the end of August, and now worried as well about this "tainted" drink rumor. Anybody else do some research on this? I don't wanna have to worry about what I'm drinking when on vacation!
You just said it's a rumor. And Desire, of all places, would be an unlikely place for that to happen in any event. Don't get caught up in the hype.
According to ABC News...................Mexican government is cracking down on "tainted" alcohol at resorts across the county.
I wholeheartedly agree...been going since the BBG days and never an issue other than too much alcohol. Maybe I should not tip as much or get Janice to get the drinks...always strong when she does...penis vs boobs I guess, lol. Seriously though I don't think tainted alcohol is an issue at TTR or pissed of bartenders and the like.
