Last night's Cancun bound flight full of passengers that was left to sit on the tarmac for hours is not the first time this has happened. Recently it occurred in Austin Texas: http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/business/16533365.htm Did anyone ever have a similar experience with an airline? Here's the link If you're going to support it, you'll need to find it. Here is the link to the petition: http://www.petitiononline.com/airline/petition.html My wife spent 11 hours on the ground in Amsterdam last week because of heavy snows that delayed equipment throughout Europe. Unlike US carriers, gates were closed early, before the snow arrived, when it became obvious that planes due from other cities were already snowed in. Some flights were de-boarded. Nobody sat on a plane. Vouchers for meals and drinks were generous and as the day wore on offers of overnight accomodations were made. Ground staff circulated throughout the waiting areas with trays of drinks and snacks and did their best to take the edge off a bad situation. Quite a contrast to what happened in the US.
