Been told you want sunscreen without alcohol as it dries out the skin. same with any aftersun, skincare products. I use 30 to start and some 15 later depending on the sun and my skin tone. Never burnt this year, and would say I got rather dark in the week there.
I never realized baby shit had tanning properties....hmmmmmmm I bet it doesn't smell as good as coppertone.
Have to use a hypoallergenic kind. Sucks learning that after your face swells up at a party you're hosting. Ugh!
Job well done!!!!! There is no such thing as a SPF over a 30. If you are looking for a max block, use a 30. All the other SPF's have more waxes and mineral oils, as what waterproof or sweatproof sunscreens. Stay away from all of them while in a tropical climate. 9 times out out 10, people burn more or get heat rash. And most sunscreens are made up of alcohol, which will dry you out and cause you to burn faster and or shed all color sooner then what you want. As for aftersun..DO NOT USE GELS!!!! Stick to an Aloe based lotion. Aloe must be first ingredient!!! I am at TTR Mon, Tues, Wed and Fridays at 10:30 to about 12. I am here to make sure everyone gets the results they expect. Not all products work for everyone here just cause it works bak home. Come chat with me and I can help you anyway I can
Thanks Tori, great advice. Are there any brand names that you would suggest? Are there any good sport or water friendly SPFs?
To be honest, we urge everyone to reapply every 30-45 min down here. The sun is SUPER intense, and the humidity is high. All lotions should be sweating off your body...if it isn't, then you are clogging your pours up. All products work differently with each person. I will send you a PM.....
Thank-you Tori, just trying to help, hate to see someone get burnt. I also always do the finger test to see if I should go back to 30 from the 15. I think my info came from you second hand.
Totally agree with what Tori has said. Additionally, we usually try to go down to TTR with a base tan. And, we always try to get some shade (lunch, umbrella, under the thatched bar roof) for part of the time between maybe 10 and 3 when the sun's the brightest.
just be careful when returning home if you do not match your color on your passport they will not let you leave that happen to me the firsy year in cancun my picture on the passport was white when i was leaving cancun i was very brown all around did not match my passport:huh:
Well.....this'll be the 1st time we haven't had to worry about covering the "tingly parts" with sunscreen (ifyaknowwhatimean). I've had success with spf 50 (down there) and spf15 on the other areas (applied a few times/day). I usually use one of the "sport" products.....and it's worked well. I "try" to have a damned good base before I get there, though. I got a LONG ways to go to build one in the next 5 wks., though. I haven't burned in any trip to Mexico. But, like I said, I'm usually pretty well-along when I arrive. Hope this helps. j
