You're right...that hasn't happened. What we do is pack each suitcase we check with half her stuff and half mine. Each suitcase has a little of everything, so if one was delayed or lost neither of us would be completely without swimwear, shoes, etc. We also bring a carry-on with a variety of everything. We're pretty well covered no matter what.
I have several times. It is not fun, but hasn't deterred me from checking luggage. And I do enjoy the free discount on my next flight when they F up.
Not sure where you are flying from but.... last time we went (flew out of DFW), we only took carry on bags. I took a regular-sized bottle of 110spf (yes, I burn!) to the airport and told them in the security line that I had it. They made me go around the little barricade to another line (that was empty) to "declare" it, but had no issues. Most people don't take items to "declare" so I'm sure you will breeze through. Just be sure to bring lotion and not the spray kind --- you will get through the special security line much quicker and they won't have to go through your carry on bag. They will open the lotion bottle, squirt some on a test trip, run it through a machine, and you are on your way. If you bring the spray, they will go through your carry on and pull everything out.... EVERYTHING! Just be sure to bring lotion!!!
I have to say that the prices we have to pay in the UK for sun screen are high too, and the stuff at TTR is actually excellent AND we fully subscribe to the biodegradable message - hate that some people are too arrogant to follow the rules and protect the environment. That's like letting my Great Dane shit all over your yard because even though I know it's not the right thing to do, that only applies to other people right?!
I'm pretty sure the giant silver tube hurtling through the atmosphere to Cancun is doing significantly more damage to the environment lol Let's not debate the semantics of our carbon footprint on a site dedicated to discussing the happiest place on earth.
