    Hi All
Does anybody have any tips to help a small group of British soldiers get across from Belize City area. Is it a rip off to fly. Is the water taxi the best way?
Also we only have 4 days over easter should we try and book a hotel now or just try our luck when we arrive?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

I don't think there are any flights direct from Belize to Cancun, I think you have to fly via Guatamala. Never heard of a water taxi either, if there is one it would take days I imagine.

The only option as far as I know is a road trip. It's around an 8-10 hr drive from Belize City. For buses you'd get a bus to Chetumal and change there for Cancun. Rental car is another option.

The Cayes look nice, but Belize City is awful. A lot of poverty and very high crime rate.

Go to Placencia beach. It is a peninsula a little south of Dangriga in Stann Creek. The nearest town is Independence. I was there a long time ago, but it was beautiful! It was away from the relentless omnipresent biting flies.

In July 2012, we were staying in San Pedro for a month, got bored & wanted Cancun.
We booked our stay at TTR. Took the water taxi to Chetumal about $40 & an hour ride.
We walked off the dock saw a cab, showed some cash and they agreed to drive us all the way to Cancun. $120 & a 5 hour ride. It was great! Cash is the best way to make a good deal!
