Not a chance... we'll have you going everyday!!!! Twice on Sunday! We've been going for 15 days for the last, what, 15 years? And it varies... when we started I was getting maybe 3 hours of sleep per day, out to the clubs every night sometimes leaving them because it was 5:50 AM and I was the towel bitch for the day and had to get back to get the chairs. As the years when on I went out less, slept a little more. There was a while when I didn't drink the Friday before coming back to begin the detox.. some years the last couple of days I barely moved because everyone I knew left and I didn't want to expend the effort to get to know new people for a day... Some years the crowd is great for a few days, sucks for a few and then is great again.. would have hated if we were there only for the sucky days. Bottom line for us is that being there for a longer period allows for ups and downs, the years where we got sick and better while there, good crowds and bad, nice weather and bad, fast paced and slow. But every trip was excellent! Because we had time to sit out the bad times before having to come home. So I wouldn't go for less than 15 days because I wouldn't want to take the chance of the days I chose being the shitty days for that trip. Jamie
Wba Your right for the other half (LOL), they've haven't gone boing, boing at all lately (Gateshead an exception !!) but after being up some 16 hours (min)by the time you get to TTR it's a real challenge to boing at all, keep going till mid-night, at least (the atmosphere does help). Were glad your getting a real flavour of TTR from these threads, it really is totally different from any other resort we know. If you sail (or don't already), try sailing the Hobbie cat off the beach or canoes, great free opportunity...... :aktion030:
I like 10 days the best. I did 7 days a few times and found it was too short because I wasn't ready to leave yet. Also did 14 days a few times (mainly because I was a member and had 6 weeks a year) and that was too long for many of the reasons already stated. The routine can get repetitive if you don't change it up. The food, entertainment, the hangovers, Coco Bongos, etc. gets old sometimes especially if your going twice a year. Then when you get home trying to remember where you left off. Also depends on the crowd. I went the last week of May through the first week of June every year. You see the shift change and one year both groups were extra great. Everyone got in the games, perfect weather, etc. That could ruin a person if it's their first trip and expect that every time.
I'm lucky because I leave Philly at 6am and I am at the pool getting my first drink by 11am. Got there one time just as the beer drinking game was starting and got in that before the room was ready or even changed clothes.

We've talked about a split trip, but always come back to one thing...during the week at TTR, we'll most likely run into some cool people we've just met and are having fun...and we wind up leaving them behind to go to Desire or whatever resort we planned for the second part of the trip. Or...we get to TTR after having spent a few days somewhere else...and everyone tells us what we've missed. Ten to twelve days is about right for us. We said last year that with twelve days we can afford to take it easy for a few nights rather than go hard and late the whole trip. That idea didn't work.
We mixed it up one time and started out at TTR for a week then Desires for the last week. Chinos told us there was a "takeover" at Desires and I was clueless as to what that was. Well let me tell ya- It was crraazzzzy. It seemed all normal with everyone naked and in the pool at 10am. People all friendly asking if I was with the "fluffs" I didn't know what they were talking about. Then as the day went on and after lots of drinking everyone migrated up to the jacuzzi. The group was called the "Fluffernutters" and apparently a takeover is when they have most all the rooms and the resort doesn't enforce the usual rules and they do whatever they want, wherever they want, with whoever they want, with how many they want, as many times as they want. Threesomes in the canopy be next to us during the day. In the lounge chairs around the pool. Pretty much anytime you walked by the pool at night you heard some moaning. I have to admit that it was exciting but a little intense if your not used to it. My girlfriend was not into it and stayed in the room all night. We still had 3 days to go but the next day we went back to TTR to finish up and tell Chinos all about it. He said "I warned you"
What we did our first time two years ago was 9 nights total, But split between two resorts. With 5 nights at TTR then we moved to Excellence Playa Mujeres for 4 nights. We figured we would party non-stop for 5 nights then spend 4 nights in luxury, recouping. We had so much fun that when we had to check out to move we were all sad about leaving our new friends and even joked about sneaking back to TTR. Then we checked into EPM. We were so in awe by the beautiful resort, room, pampering and great food/drinks. That while we missed the party, we really enjoyed ourselves there too. So we have a similar plan this year but bumped the vacation to 11 nights (will probably be 14 by next year). And due to circumstances with friends coming out to TTR we flipped it and are staying 5 nights at Valentine imperial Maya then moving to TTR for 6 nights.
