Hey all, did't want to bring much cash on the trip, enough to tip and such. Not sure we will need much but if we decide to go off premises one night and hit the town, does everyone pretty much take credit cards, would rather take one with me in case we do spend a bit. \ Thanks, clyde
I've always just locked my debit card in the safe as soon as I get there and use cash only. There's an atm next door to the resort but I know from work how much a pain it can be having your card lost or stolen in a foreign country.
Yeah, as Zurc says. I'd also recommend taking cash with you for a night out rather than a credit card. Use the ATM to get cash and leave the cards in the safe.
We also take cash, only had to use the ATM a few times and only used my credit card once ( at the airport ) in the 14 times we have been there.
We took cash with us and locked it in the safe. We tipped for each of our meals. 10 or 20 to the bartender each night. Enough to go on one of the day cruises and also for the night trip to coco bongos. If you don't make it to any other club we would suggest going there and go with the resort. It is worth it.
Last time we were there we used a atm in Playa and a month after we got home we had charges for over a grand. Our bank said they put cameras above the atm and then have your pin and use a card reader on the machine. The bank gave us back our money. We are using cash in November.
I would not advise using a credit card anywhere in Cancun. And never ever let your credit card leave your sight while on vacation. Cash, cash, cash all the time.
