Southwest Airlines is really promoting its takeover of Airtran starting July 1. Heard several Radio adds yesterday!!! Service to Jamaica is starting July 1, while NoN stop flights to Cancun begin Sept 1 !!! Fares to Cancun are starting at $275 R/T. According to the adds, this is the TOTAL price with no add ons. They even have a 9 AM flight. Quite a few folks in our subdivision worked for both Value Jet and Airtran and are planning on holding a WAKE !!! Not thrilled with the takeover. Not near as bad for Atlanta as the downfall of Eastern Airlines years ago.
They start flying there out of Dallas in October. But it is two weeks after our next trip. It usually costs us around $400-$450 on American.
Looks like we can go non-stop from Midway to CUN on at 7am and be in the sexy pool by noon! $450. Still kinda steep but excited to have the option anyway!
Our flights via USAir usually cost $800 in the spring and $600 in the fall. The southwest flight down we already booked for $300 for 2, the return is $500 for 2. So although there are only 2 options a week we would pay $800 total instead of $800 each. Nice. Just wish it was direct from philly instead of thru Atlanta.
I have booked non stop Southwest flight out of Atlanta for trip in Oct. Gets to Cancun at 10:50 am, sexy pool by noon! Got Southwest credit card, they had deal that gives you 50000 points to sign up for one. Cost 11000 points roundtrip each plus taxes($74). I still have enough points for 2 more free roundtrips. I think it's a good deal.
Just booked Southwest for the end of Sept. We have to go to washington from Buffalo. $353.00 round trip with early check in
Having zero experience with Southwest, I'm very curious why neither Orbitz or Expedia are showing Southwest flights to Cancun for later this fall?
Southwest only books their flights through their website. They don't allow travel sites to use them. I prefer Southwest when I travel and wish I had known about them starting to fly to Cancun. This could change everything.
