Will do, but they have already stated that the show will go on. We're not going to let a little thing like a nasty flood mess with our summer party!
See you all very soon Keith. We will be in Calgary on friday the 12th of July. Ready to party Cancun style again.
Looking forward to seeing you on the 13th Monique.....We were not effected by the flooding, thank goodness. We're praying for many friends and family who were and helping out where and when we can. We'll need a good party and laughs which I know you can give us. Cheers D
Most of the city is dry and fine. The Stampede grounds were under water, but they are already hard at work on them. NOTHING will stop this city from having its yearly party!
Amen jim! If two world wars and the great depression couldn't, then a little mud downtown won't either Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk 2
Wish a speedy recovery for all effected. Crazy seems like the whole weather pattern has been changing world wide.
The City is doing amazing (not just city hall....but them too) and this place will be back in shape before you know it. 2500 people showed up for 600 volunteer spots this morning. More needed in the days ahead but Calgary will pull together and Stampede 101 will not only be a success, but a lesson on how we do things here in Alberta! Wishing all the people in High River who have been so devistated some good luck getting their infrastructure back in place quickly so they can start recovering too!
I have been back one day and here is what I am observing, just in the downtown core where I am. Walking around even on blocks that haven't been powered up the roads are clear and most often already have had street sweepers up and down them. If it weren't so quiet (relatively) I'd swear that no flood happened. -Crews are going full bore to drain water out of parkades and get utilities (gas, electicity, etc) back up and running. -The weather has (knocks on every piece of wood in my apartment) turned for the better, which will do wonders for getting the grounds ready etc. -Even saw a picture today of a drained Rodeo surface with trucks already clearing out old dirt and bringing in new dirt. If you have planned on coming for the Stampede I would say keep coming! Because this party will happen come HELL or HIGH WATER.
I just so happen to be in Calgary on business. Pulled into town tonight and gotta say that I don't know what all the fuss is about. Looks much like any other time I've seen Calgary. Just goes to show what a resilient bunch these people are. Nice job, Calgary. If only your hockey team could pull it together just as well..
well they have already drained the Saddledome, pretty efficient considering that they only had one cup available to do it with :aktion069: What can I say I am a Saskatchewan transplant, the cup I am focused on is the one that bears Lord Earl Grey's name lol!
