My passport expires in June, and I remember reading about a 6 month timeline to travel to Mexico. My question is, can I travel within Mexico with my passport which expires in 5 months?

Better get a new one to be safe. You can do express which comes way faster than the times they state on the web site. We got them in less than 2 weeks.

Officially you cant, whether it is enforced strictly I don't know.

Reason being 6 months is the maximum time you can stay on a tourist visa, so they want you to have a valid passport by the time you have to leave.

I'd renew to be on the safe side, plenty of time.

Well I do have my temp residency here, and I'm not here as a tourist, so I'm not even entirely sure if they will need to see my passport or just my residency card. I'm going to Acapulco to visit the inlaws on the 20th, and this just crossed my mind. I'm kinda thinking that because I'm a temp resident and I'm not leaving the country, that I will only need to show my card and not my passport.
